blah upstairs hallway

I’m having trouble giving this hallway some life! It’s 14’x3’ with standard 8’ ceilings. There are 2 doors on each side of the hall . It’s choppy—The walls in between are approximately 3ft and as you can see the thermostat is a main event on one of the walls. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

I would do a colorful runner and maybe change the lighting fixture but I actually like it I think it goes

I dont think you have to fill this hall way with things

It's unfortunate but unless you can move the thermostat I would just add a rug and call it a day.

Actually I would also paint the intake vent the color of your wall to hide it....there is probably biege spray paint you can buy

I did this to one of my vents when I painted the room a dark green it really helped camouflage

Fun space to decorate! Your floor is fine. I'd go for striking rather than calming. Would probably wallpaper (or stencil) the upper portion. Love the idea of navy and gold. Beautiful against the white sink as well. But there are so many options! I'd be at Benjamin Moore picking up all sort of paint chips. Pinks, corals, blues... What's your favourite colour? Selene, a history of your comments shows that you're both mostly interested in promoting the replica MCM furniture sold at a NYC furniture store, Manhattan Home Design. You wouldn't happen to work there or own the store, or be friends or partners (personally or professionally) with someone who is, would you? Also, there have been more than a dozen BBB complaints in the past three years about the store you've been recommending, which I would find problematic if I were looking to buy something there. Your posts in this thread and others sound very similar to some by Gabriella Robbins, James Sorenson, Daniel Blake and others, who are all also promoting MCM replica furniture in general, and Manhattan Home Design in particular. Are all of you friends or partners in this venture? Or bots? Because this is looking very co-ordinated at this point.

it's a lot. If you are not going to paint, I would start with the flooring. if you are not going to match the hardwood, I'd choose a tile you love to compliment the hardwood throughout the home. The floor will set the tone for the rest of the decor, one thing depends on the other...

Pros and cons to carpet, and pros and cons to hardwood or other flooring. What is your current flooring, on the stairs, hallway, and bedrooms? How many more years do you anticipate staying in this house? Carpet is softer underfoot and a bit quieter which is nice to muffle footsteps on the upstairs level. A good installation will protect any hardwood underneath it, nice for future owners who might want to uncover it. Carpeted steps are easier for dogs to navigate! Continuity is good, for visual pleasantness. Without seeing your space I'd guess that continuing the carpet in the upstairs hallways is a good thing. On the con side, carpet wears out especially in high traffic areas; and stains/spills are more difficult to clean up; and visually many people would prefer all hardwood to any wall-to-wall carpet.

In a small utilitarian space like a hallway, I think the littlest details can make a difference…so I’d paint the air register to match the wall, making sure it fit flat to the wall, and I’d unify the door hinges, strike plates, knobs so they all matched. And if the light is staying, I’d use that metal color as the guide. I’d also paint the back plate of the thermostat the same as the wall, and add a few pieces of art. Hallways are good places to push the boundaries on art, if you’ve loved a piece but weren’t sure it would look good elsewhere, because you’re not competing against anything else, and it’s not in your line of sight the majority of time you’re at home
