foyer and upstairs hallway help

I need help with an entry way project. It involves the following:

(1)Foyer:
*New flooring (LVP)
*New light fixture
The paint color will stay as is (I think it is requisite or agreeable grey or something like that)
I am not tied to the furniture or rug that is there but moray concerned with the floor/light right now.

My main concern is the flow of the flooring. The kitchen is not updated and while I intend to do so, it may not happen in the near future. The floors in the kitchen are vinyl and are horrible. I don’t want to refloor the foyer and then not be able to carry that look through the kitchen should I redo it later.

Most of the flooring in the rest of the house is original hardwood.

(2)Stairwell wall and upstairs paint color:
Keep it the same as the current foyer or contrast/complimentary color to carry through the upstairs halls.

FYI : The upstairs is rather dark. I am not tied to the rug or artwork/furniture or lighting.

Thanks in advance.
