you have a really nice space, so I suspect people need more input from you about what you don't like about the room and your goals.

Are the lamps the only lighting in the room? My first thought was there are too many in close proximity, but if you need them, then maybe move them around a bit. I'd like to see the ginger jar lamps on the nightstands if they fit. Maybe just one lamp on the dresser and one on top of the highboy, if you need all 4. If you don't maybe none on the dresser and one on the highboy. I might shop for lamps to replace the clear ones if you configure them as above. Or use the ginger jar lamps, one on the highboy. But I think you can do better than the clear lamps for your room.

I think the drapes look fine - I assume they are safe against the baseboard heaters - are they radiators? Are you looking to update your comforter? Id love to see your quilt opened and used as a topper.

Your trunk is beautiful, but so is your footboard; I might move the trunk (or try it) under the windows and get a larger bench for the foot of the bed if you feel you need something. The trunk might be too small for the wall under the windows without more placed near it. Do you have another chair like the one shown? You could flank the trunk with chairs. I'd find another place for your little bench.

I agree with @Olychick - you do have a really nice space. The furniture pieces and flooring are lovely. I wondered about the lamps too & don’t see overhead lighting so maybe they are the only lights in room. I’d swap the ginger jar lamps with the night stand lamps. The 2 ginger jars are too large for dresser & block view of your framed prints - seems the clear ones would be a better fit. I also wondered about reason for so many chairs /seats. I count 3. Can the stool be used somewhere else & center that great trunk at end of bed? I like the 2 red rugs that coordinate - could you find a better mate for rug between bed & dresser? Your drapes are a nice pairing with the ginger jar lamps. You seem to favor blue based on them & the quilt - I too would like to see the quilt on the bed. If it won’t work there, I’d consider a new bed covering or at least a duvet cover for the one you have. In blue colors of course!

I would also like to see the quilt on the bed. I'm not a fan of all those runners surrounding the bed. I would like to see one rug, coordinting with the quilt.

I agree with KW. And actually would look into different bedding.

The ginger jar lamps are probably too tall to fit under the sloping ceiling or on top of the tall chest. I put them there mostly for their decorative value, but maybe they are too big. I could use one of the glass lamps on the chest. There is no other lighting in the room.

The duvet cover is new and I like it well enough. I do have another cover in a floral that I could try again.

The little bench and trunk are there for my two small dogs to hop up on. The blue quilt gives them some traction on the trunk, but I can put something else on it, I have lots of throws and such. If I move the trunk to the windows, I do have another of the chairs elsewhere that I can put there, and I’ll have to find another bench for the dogs.

I bought the drapes used and i’m not thrilled with the pattern. I could continue looking for different ones if necessary.

I try to avoid a rug under the bed because of dust and dog hair, the ones that are there are antiques that I like. The little rug near the dresser can be replaced with a runner of some sort but there’s not much space there. It would have to be very narrow.

I like the individual elements of the room but it seems disjointed and needs pulling together.

Joanne - I had to laugh at reading your explanation of the function of the small stool & trunk at the end of your bed. Of course those items must stay put! We all arrange our homes for our family members convenience & safety - including our 4 legged family members. I wondered if the lamps would be too tall for night tables with the sloped ceilings. I also realized they are black patterned not blue. They’re so pretty. I peeked at your prior posts & saw the close up of the one. How about a change to the arrangement of the floral prints on the wall so they’re not blocked by the lamps? The 2 end pieces could be hung higher making a sort of ”V” shape with the 3. Maybe another piece framed similarly or just another piece that relates to the 3 could be found & hung over the top of center piece - between the 2 that were hung higher. I hope that makes sense. I think it’d make for an interesting display & eliminate the look of too tall lamps on the dresser. I understand your point about great individual elements in the room but the effect of being disconnected or disjointed. I think having coordinating bedding and draperies is the key to connecting the pieces. I like the drapes but you don’t seem to. I also like the lighter floral duvet cover you show - it doesn’t quite coordinate with drapes though. Maybe decide on your window treatement first & then coordinate the bed cover & pillows with it. I’d look to the antique rugs for inspiration. The ginger jar lamps are great with the rugs which are great with the furniture pieces - connect drapes & bed covers to them.

Ok. Some photos with minor experimental changes. The glass lamps are too tall for the tall chest. The floral duvet cover looks too wimpy I think, I have another bedroom I can use it in. The ginger jars are a very dark blue-black.

Someone has two pair of reasonably priced green and gold striped drapes about an hour from me that I can try. The only thing is that I think they have some sheen to them, and I’m not a fan of shiny fabrics. Might have to do a road trip.

Tried the quilt on the bed. Also a gray/white toile comforter that also looks wimpy to me.

A little photoshop to remove the blue quilt and add the drapes I’ve been eyeing. This is the valance obviously, but the photos of the actual drapes are poor quality with bad lighting.

I could put something on the dresser, a decorative box maybe, to tie the prints in with the rest of it.

Gray and off white toile. I think I have some grayish bedding in a william morris pattern, but might be too ditzy for the comforter.

I really like the glass lamps on dresser - better companion to the 3 prints. The ginger jars aren’t too tall for night tables - great! They have much more impact on the nightstands IMO. I also like the stripe pattern & color of the drapes you’re considering. Not sure about them with the rugs & lamps though. Not sure about the gray & off white toile either - I love toile & that spread in particular but not sure if the combo works with striped drapes & rugs. Your description of ’wimpy’ is also my feeling of effect. What’s the William Morris bedding you have? I’m an Arts & Crafts style person so I’m really interested in that. The pattern might be strong enough to work - maybe with the black / blue ginger jar lamps & the stong colors in the rugs, the drapes should be a plain cream or gray tone?

Yes, I’ve been thinking that plain cream drapes would be a good idea. The william morris bedding is on there now, impossible to see the pattern with the pillowcases being rumpled. I have a blue/cream set and a gray/cream set. More colorful would be nice but these were a good price at a box store and nice quality cotton.

I also have a solid cream duvet cover, but it shows every spot and mark from the dogs. I de-hair the bed every morning but sometimes they lick their feet or something and leave a stain. I was washing it constantly.

What we don’t do for the pets. I actually put braided stair treads and a series of motion lights on the stairs in case they went up or down during the night.

Is the William Morris bedding in the original picture - the duvet cover? I found this William Morris pattern at Williams Sonoma Home & love the colors. Here’s a link Strawberry Thief duvet. If the link doesn’t work, search on Strawberry Thief - the name of that pattern. I think a pattern like this would work with your rugs & be great with simple cream drapes.

As for installing stair tread & motion lights for your pups - doing that certainly beats the pain of a trip to Vet ER in middle of the night because we didn’t think about managing potential safety risks! Taking care to ensure pets safety and well being certainly makes life easier for us with fewer awful accidents, right? 😊

Love the ginger jar lamps on the nightstands! I think the other lamps are too contemporary for your room and don't really add anything to your decor. I might think about the dresser with no lamps but maybe a traditional floor lamp in the space to the left of the dresser. And maybe a lamp on top of the highboy if you still need more light. This one is only $99 at Target if budget is an issue.
