are you keeping the existing furniture? I would swap the bed and dresser... the window throws natural light onto the dresser. as you have them, All the photo/images are hung too high.

It is ok to position the bedside tables in front of the windows.

Great, try the accent wall, it's only paint and a little time. Won't know if you like it until you try it.

I'd paint the ceiling white for a fresh contrast to your dark wall idea. Paint the soffit as if it were the ceiling, no contrast.

I think you need color for the bedding.

I don't think you need an accent wall unless it's a beautiful wallpaper design. You need color! Not necessarily the colors in the mock up, but "color" ;-)! Also, larger lamps on the night stands and a round mirror above the dresser! Declutter the top of the dresser and and find another wall for family photos. Maybe a collage wall in a hallway outside of your bedroom. I don't think I would like looking at photos of my kids on the wall when hubby and I are having a romatic moment ;-). Let guests and family enjoy those photos! A rug to break up all of that grey. Artwork can fill that long emty wall beside the bed and If you're not on a budget, a cozy reading corner in place of the dog bed. Add an accent chair with a side table and a lamp for more lighting in that corner.

I would paint the ceiling white and the room green. Then use black as the accent. Get a comforter in black/white or black/green combination.

Move the family pictures all to the wall across from the dresser. Get two taller table lamps in black.

The art above the bed needs to be bigger (longer and wider). I would put a complementary piece of art or mirror above the dresser.

Do ALL the walls green. Rain Washed (SW) or Sage Wisdom (BM) were recommended in this article about which green goes with gray carpeting.

If you’re willing to remove the carpeting and use a wood floor or wood-look LVP, it changes the range of greens that you can use.

I like pale aqua on ceilings like that..it feels like a looking up at spring sky..with a similar goal …pale golden yellow …feels like a warm spring/summer day. These would also offer a cheery background for your neutral furnishings

If you’re willing to go green, this is Restoration Satin by Glidden, which is a very earthy tone that would go well with earthy neutrals.

Also Stealth Jet by Behr if you wanted to go for some green in the bedding/decor.

If you have good lighting, a bedroom is a good place to go darker.

I might put wood planking on the ceiling to warm up the space. And the wood would go well with green walls to cozy up the space. Use some natural wood furniture to tie into ceiling maybe. Have fun!

Lots of good advice here already.

The bedside tables look inconveniently low. You could raise them up a few inches by adding another set of 3" bun feet. They come in sets of 4 and you screw them into the bottom of the existing legs. Spray paint them to match first.

Add drapes for a warmer and more finished feel even if you don't need them for light control.

There may be a better placement of furniture if you send us the room measurements and photos of all 4 walls.

Wherever you hang your pictures, they will look much better lower on the walls - they are all too high in my opinion. Grouping some of them together also would be more effective.

I would wallpaper the tray ceiling instead of an accent wall.

Agree paint all 4 walls for cozy feel, no accent wall. For expansive ceiling, paint the ceiling, crown, and soffit all same color, in a soft off-white, not stark ceiling white. Leave wall above the tall headboard empty, it reaches too close to ceiling already. Put dresser top clutter in baskets or woven trays. Enhance proportions - bedside tables should be 1-3 inches lower than mattress, taller lamps with bottom of lamp shades above eyeline, or add wall sconces or hang pendants for more room on bedside table surface. Add rug spanning foot of bed. Add chair and floor lamp in corner.

Replace ceiling fan with airy, farmhouse chandelier.

You’re getting some great suggestions. I would also add curtain panels to the windows to create the coziness you’re wanting.

Would green walls, black tray ceiling with wood beams work?

I think a black tray ceiling with wood beams would be too heavy looking. Your furniture and rug are light coloured and it would look unbalanced. I would go with some of the other suggested changes first and see whether it gives you the warmth and cozy look you are want.

My room is 17’8” by 15’3”, the longer wall has the 2 windows and is north facing

Not sure what this color is, but it gives you the drama you are craving. I would not do an accent wall, paint all four walls.

Take all your family photos and put them in frames and place them on the empty wall to the right of the bed in a collage formation.

Get a mirror for above the dresser. Do the ceiling white. They layered an area rug in this room and you can do the same, if you want and need more color. Larger bedside lamps are needed. Do not add anymore art or photos to the headboard wall. The one over the headboard is all that is needed.
