Hmm. Google says a king size mattress is about 6’4” wide, so if you turn the rug the other way there will only be about 3’8” available to step out on. Divided by two, that won’t be very much on each side. I might not be happy with that.

It’s a lovely rug though.

edited to add - I’m assuming you currently have the 14’ length going side-wall-to-side-wall.

I think if you rotate, the bedside tables may not all be on rug, and you don't want things half on, half off rugs, at least going crossways.

No harm seeing how it looks, since you don’t want to return. Hard to tell what sides are 10 vs 14 - will it fit?

HOW?? Would you rotate this and not have it crawl up your walls?

Do a simple drawing, measure your room, upload the drawing as a jpeg. Show the entry, the closet , bath entry etc. all the windows, the feet and inches for everything. Every. single . thing.

I can't even tell if the king bed is on the best wall, and all your remaining pics are distorted.

@Maureen, the rug side that is parallel to the foot of the bed is the 14 ft.

I think just move the rug to the right a bit to even out the floor showing on either side . I do not usually like rugs under beds because most people buy a rug with pattern which is mostly hid by the bed so I like this one I do however not like the bedding pretty sure you can do better .Remove the art aboove the headboard lower the other piece and I like drapes in bedrooms thay add a sense of luxury and coziness. . Something like this for the bedding

Maybe could look into having rug cut to 9x12 and edges bound.

You always have the option to take the rug to a flooring store and ask that the rug be cut to your custom size and rebound

You're up against the baseboard on one side, looks like you have 6 or nine inches of wood on the right, a few FEET at foot of bed, so how in heck would you turn it, and not be decorating the walls with rug?

I'm asking you to measure as it may be possible your bed is on the wrong wall?

I’d agree that your pictures look a little bit stretched, but a person of average intelligence can clearly understand what you’re working with.

Why don’t you just center it better so that the same sliver of floor is showing on each side equally? After that, if it still bothers you, does the same rug come one size smaller?

Jade has told us that the side parallel to the footboard is 14’. If she rotates the rug, there will be less exposed on the sides of the bed, and more length beyond the footboard.

I would leave it as it is and just cheat the symmetry a little bit by shifting it to the right, so you have an equal sliver of floor exposed on both sides.

Looking at the photo again, I might even consider pulling it away from the wall and having the side tables sit on the floor. If you do this, you'll get a bit more rug at the foot of the bed.

There isn't just one way to do this, even though some will try to tell you otherwise!

I have a 12x16 rug under my king bed, with the 16' side parallel to headboard, but I built the bedroom to fit the rug, which I already owned! My side tables sit on the floor.

If you’re returning, will you consider 2runner type rugs on each side?

I know it doesn’t make as nice a photo- op, but, I think the light rug, most of which is under a bed, is not too practical, for cleaning & for replacing if needed. One side may “ wear” worse or better than the other; can’t do major carpet type cleaning such as steaming, with it on the wood floor, and its a big removal process to send it out for professional cleaning.

Before you go to the trouble of removing it, I would try @chispa 's suggestion to cheat the symmetry by moving it so the slivers of the exposed floor are uniform. @jilly made a similar suggestion up the thread.

Glad you were able to return the rug! I really like the style and would go with the same one only a size smaller. That will look much nicer than runners.
