Tape out a "rug" as you want it to look directly on the floor with painter's tape. See if that is a standard size. If not, try the next size up. I prefer them to slip under 1/3-1/2 of the bed, or at least to the point were your feet can land on it when you get out of bed.

I would use some nice runners beside the bed and a rug in the open area with the bench sitting on it at the end of the bed all the pieces matching. I see no point in havinfg a rug under the bed it is a pain to vacuum and you hide 1/2 the rug.

You can have carpet binded at at carpet store any size you want. This might be a good option for you.

That is a scale drawing of her space to the inch. So yes. It works. It's math 1/4 inch to one foot with the king bed. :)

Binding a rug in this scenario is a waste of time and energy. Her room is just a bit over 13 feet wide. It would be to split hairs in this particular instance

No way, sorry!! The room is 13 feet wide! 156 " minus 120." Is 36...? If that's 18 inches exposed wood on either side in that visual ? I shall have to eat every inch!!

Its too small at eight by ten, in any direction. ..... And will be very awkward in front of side tables at a half way point. Barely 20 inches will peek each side of the bed. That drives me nuts :)

I think 8 x 10 rug is a good option to the size of the room, 9 x 12 leaves no exposed hardwood on the sides, which is not a good look imo. Just place half the rug under the bed, leaving 4 feet at the front of bed for your bench.

It's math: A 120 inch rug will give you a rug , that will end on each side of the bed ..... at a weird spot in front of the side tables. Simply turn the nine by twelve . In this case a little closer to walls is a nicer proportion

Painter's tape to the rescue! Decide how much rug you want to put your feet on in the morning. Pretend you're getting out of bed and see where your feet normally land. You'll need the rug to come up that far from the foot of the bed. Then decide how much rug you're comfortable with at the end of the bed. Do you plan to put a bench or pair of chairs there? If so, allow for them plus an extension of rug past them.

I don't see the problem with rotating the rug.

Consider the whole length at the head of the bed as one unit: Side Table, Bed, Side Table. In my MBR this is 120 inches, between the outside edges of the side tables (but I have an Eastern King bed). You want enough rug to run from an inch in front of the side tables to at least three feet beyond the end of the bed.

Yes, this is a 'waste' of all the rug that is under the bed, but it provides a unifying look. Two runners and a rug break up the room, and they look 'skimpy' to me.

Is the room 13 1/2 feet/ 162 inches wide? Yes!! She has a rug 9' x 12' ( 108 X 144 ) . When she turns it.....putting it one turn from the way she has it now and in FRONT of the side tables, she will exit onto the rug and there will be ( 162 -144" divide by 2 ) or 9 inches of FLOOR showing on both sides of bed at the walls . The bed is King.....she will step ONTO 144"-80" divided by 2 sides and exactly 32 inches of rug at the bedside on both sides of the bed Believe it !!! You need no tape. Trust me. : )

PS About 42 inches of rug will peek out at end of the bed, and she can place her bench atop that. Given a 18 x 18 by 54/ 60 inch bench....? 24 inches will hang out beyond the BENCH lol. Inches don't lie.

She needs no 8 x 10...or anything in between. She likes the rug.

This chart should help you get the right height for the lamps. 58-64" above the floor is where they should arrive. Tape that spot on your wall to see where they'll be in relation to your headboard.

I’m having trouble deciding what size rug for my master as well. Our bedroom is (13 ft) 157.5 l x 153 in wide (12 ft 9 in). I’m leaning towards 8x10? Any suggestions?
