white appliances in new kitchens?
Comments (37)Don't have any pics. since I'm just starting this process, but I love the look of mixing white and stainless as long as you stay away from the black trimmed stainless (which I also dislike). I'm planning to do a mix of white and stainless for my appliances...with a similar fridge. I got the side-by-side version 'cause it was more in my (very low) budget, but it's also a smooth white LG with stainless-looking handles. My original plan was to have all of my appliances be white appliances with stainless trim, but it's looking like I might end up with and all-stainless wall oven and DW....See Morewhite appliances question revisited
Comments (36)mama goose~ I have a friend who just built a beautiful new home....and she put all bisque appliances in it. The salesperson told her she was dating it already.....she told him she did not care...it was her house....and she happened to like that color!...so it is bisque that she has and loves it and it looks great with her stained wood cabinets~ Personally, I really wish they would start making it more again or a creme or some shade that tones down the bright white...I think it would look better with the wood tones of the stained cabinets. I also do not care for the stainless...to me it belongs in a restaurant and not in a home because to me, it doesn't give the warm feeling that I like....but if someone likes, it for heaven's sake, use it. IMHO, I am getting rather tired of seeing all of the cookie cutter kitchens...stainless and granite...but to each their own~~...See MoreMatching appliance brands?
Comments (21)Go with the top performers in each category of appliance that's within your budget. It has the advantage of making it look like you know what you're doing. Unless the appliances are right next to each other, it won't matter. As I read somewhere (can't remember, so I can't give proper attribution), "You can get a full suite of Miele appliances, but how are you going to excuse actually buying a Miele refrigerator?" In addition, I have seen complaints that some appliances, all of the same brand (Kenmore, in that case), had different stainless steel finishes because they source from different manufacturers. Also, I'm never buying a Kitchenaid range again - mine blew up after self-cleaning, and, worse, it couldn't be repaired because the parts were no longer made (although it was only middle-aged by my standards). Look at the reliability data in Consumer Reports, and check out the blogs at Yale Appliance. So I've ordered a Thermador cooktop, Zephyr hood, Bosch dishwasher (they have three handle options), and GE Profile wall oven and refrigerator because these are right next to each other and the GEs were the best compromise choice for my budget. Gaggenau (high-end Bosch/Thermador) wall ovens are things of beauty, but out of my price range....See MoreAre white appliances out of style?
Comments (56)I love white appliances. Easy upkeep and a clean classic look. When I was buying my range years ago I could not find it in anything but stainless. The model was being discontinued (DCS was being sold to Fisher&Paykel) and I ended up buying one online from across the country. They only had one left and they said it was in stainless. I was so disappointed but I wanted the function of that particular range so I decided I would make it work somehow. A day later I got a call. They were sorry but the range wasn't stainless, it was white. I did a silent happy dance while they offered it at the same price as the stainless if I would still take it. White was an upgrade that cost several hundred dollars more at the time. Still makes me smile every time I use that range or wipe it down....See Mores_mil
