Anyone dig wallpaper?
Comments (26)I do love wallpaper in the right place. We have an older home with cheap paneling in one room. I finally painted and wallpapered it. I have done it 3 different times now. My hubby put up a chair rail on one long wall and across the end window wall. The room is long and narrow. We put up a wall and put a hot tub in behind a wall in one end. And the rest of the room is where you enter from the back of the house. I painted the door wall and below the chair rail a slate blue. Then I wallpapered the wall above the chair rail and all of the wall opposite the window. Then I ran a border all the way around. My wallpaper is kinda of a faux look with small red dots. My trim is white. I have a double window and am making a double layered topper out of small red check homespun. The bottom print is almost the same as the tan color in the wall paper. I am trying to decide if I want tabs or not. This type curtain is often in the country books we get in the mail We have a cabin in Southern Indiana and I hae made some for it. They are so cute. With the double layer, the curtain doesn't fade so quickly. I hope to get done this week. My hubby couldn't get over what a difference it made.....See Morecabbage rose wallpaper--please point me
Comments (14)I have a bedroom with cabbage rose paper in my house. It is beautiful. The paper is similar to the pics powermuffin posted...cream background, lots of pink flowers, green leaves, etc. We have cream colored lace curtains over blinds on the windows. When our dtr was young, she had pink and green bedding and accents. Now that she is grown, the bedding is a deep cream, the accents are mainly green with a little pink and ivory. The furniture has always been painted off-white. And, yes, it is the same paper. I've washed it several times, it's still perfect. We don't have a lot of sleepover guests (who aren't our kids!), but everyone who sees the room thinks it's like a bed & breakfast. I love the look! In a sloped-wall attic, I think it would be perfect!...See MoreDo I paint or wallpaper over 70's wood paneling?
Comments (26)OK, NOW you're getting into stuff that's WAY over my head! LOL I wanted quick and easy facelift, not major renovation! MAYBE if I were doing this WITH my husband we would go for removing the paneling, repairing the wall below it, removing the railing, etc. but this is something I want to get done in his absence when he's visiting family for a week. If we were to remove the railing, there would be major wall repairs to be done, AND, I'm not so confident that the bottom half is in as good shape as the top half.... previous owners let their dog do a LOT of damage in the house and for all I know there is scratched and chewed sheetrock under there, or worse! And, hey... nothing says that I won't go back in a year and decide I DO want to go further with this and THEN I can take on removing the paneling. This will be my FIRST project..... if I find I enjoy it, then maybe I'll want to take it to the next level. Baby steps. :) Sue...See MoreLooking for hallway wallpaper ideas
Comments (45)@DIS thanks for the photos. Silverponte does turn a bit green in the space as u mentioned. I am open for ideas. This is actually going to be the family room instead of the living room because there is not another family room space. Because there is so much natural light I was even thinking of a more opaque color like a bluish/gray. My sofa is a light light gray herringbone, will probably get a new rug and coffee table. My current accessories are a lot of navy/white and silver. I have a dark wooden bar that will go somewhere and sadly, I don’t think the piano is staying (but really praying she will not give it to her son 😉) so I can really do whatever works with the colors off the foyer. This room opens to the kitchen, dining and sitting space which will likely be a neutral beige, due to the maple wood kitchen cabinets and granite. What color are these navy walls? I might love that for an accent color in the kitchen dining sitting combo room (the back window wall which will be the sitting room). Sorry, I know I am getting off track from the initial post topic!!...See Moresdakntv
