That wallpaper is really pretty. I had wallpaper in my last dining room that had a black background with browns, taupes, and off white. The paint below the chair rail was brown. I never tired of it even after 10 years.

I don't have wallpaper in my current one only because I'm not up to decorating it yet. It may get wall paper.

I am planning on wallpaper in my small foyer since I think paint will take a beating there and I don't feel like living by my paint brush.

For me personally I love the feeling a pretty paper can give a room. Kitchens, baths and bedrooms take on a very cozy homey feel with the right paper. What you have picked out is lovely. I have it in two bathrooms and I love it, although they say for resale it's not good.

My house has lots of wallpaper. It is over 100+ years old and many of the walls have never had any paint on them. We just repapered the living room this summer and when I stripped off the old paper, we had bare, original gray plaster.

When we first bought the house, I didn't know if I cared for all the paper but now I love it. I walk into a house with all off-white walls and it makes me think of a hospital or something.

I always think a person should decorate how THEY like-- and not worry about resale. A new owner most generally wants to redecorate to their own style anyways...

Yes, luv wallpaper but only on feature walls or border paper, buy mine online, do the papering ourselves, the new papers of today are lovely....

I love beautiful wallpaper. I would love to use it in my house, but my house is not only old, but very small, and papered walls would get claustrophic very quickly. In a house such as mine, we really need those "hospital walls"--lol.

I love wallpaper! I was putting it up while other people were changing to the newest paint colors. I find wall paper to be traditional, and since that's my taste, works like a charm. In the condo I recently sold, I had a floral wallpaper in the sitting room and kitchen. Some would have found it to be over the top, but with it's sage background, it was very charming and fit the rooms.

I'm in the process of building, and wallpapering is definitely on my list!

Here's a question:
my kitchen and dining room are all open. Think it would look stupid to put wall paper on the upper half of the dining room walls? As long as the two room somewhat coordinated with color?.. The other problem i'm facing is my kichen floor is a neutral brown color but it does have a little bit of blue in it. I'm having a heck of a time finding something nice with blue that's not obnoxious. As you can see the picture i posted won't exactly work. :(

IMO, there's nothing more beautiful than the perfect wallpaper.
Of course, on the flip side, there's nothing more ghastly than horrible paper...

Personally, I'm a grasscloth junkie. Anything grasscloth and most things Maya Romanoff.

My circa 1900 "Victorian Lite" house is also screaming for wallpaper. We have the "hospital walls" now, which I am sure the PO thought would make the 1350sf house look bigger, and I find it SOOOOOOO depressing! I adore Bradbury & Bradbury and similar handmade wallpapers - I'm lusting horribly for some friezes from Carter & Co. and Burt Wallpapers - but really good wallpaper, however, is painfully expensive even without bringing in a paperhanger. Some rooms' walls are in particularly tough shape so they'll probably get the paintable anaglypta-type embossed paper, while others will get regular paper with a liner. Luckily I'm not one of those people whose tastes change constantly, so once we invested in good wallpaper it'd be likely to stay there for twenty years. :-) (After all, it's not like a room styled more like 100+ years ago is going to get terribly dated...) Wallpaper is not very good for the fickle types, unless it's an easy-strip type like Sherwin-Williams is currently selling, paint is better for people who want to change their room's look more often and it is certainly more likely to be cheaper unless you luck into a major bargain on the wallpaper.

I do definitely agree that there is not much in the decorating world quite as appalling as bad wallpaper!

Some people think its old hat and out of date but I happen to love wallpaper. It can really add to a room. I have it in my kitchen and love it.

If you can find the right pattern it can look better than just paint. I think anyway.

I love the right wallpaper in the right room. It can make a room feel like a nice warm hug. I've done a number of tiny repetitive prints in the past that from a distance look just like a painted wall but add interest when you're up close. I like them because they don't fight with any artwork you want to hang on the wall. I had a lot of wallpaper in my last house.

What I don't like about wallpaper is having to strip it off as I did for resale. The crazy thing about it is that after all that work, the folks who bought it had the same style of decorating I did. They would have loved it. I should have left it there.

I like it but am living in a house that's over-wallpapered. I'll post pics later, but we're living with William Morris patterns done floor-to-ceiling in two rooms that are 10'4" high - GAK! It's overwhelming. The prior owner went uber-Victorian on decor and some of her choices, while historically accurate, are waaay too much.

Some UK friends told me about a British wallpaper company, Cole and Son, which has some less traditional patterns which I love.

I also have previously bought different flower arrangements that i'm determined to find a home somewhere in the house. (i posted a couple) A lot of the ones I bought have plum colors.. Not sure how to tie in blue and plum without it looking gaggy. I wanted the kitchen's accent color to originally be blue. I'm open to suggestions.

I'm old enough to have lived through several (many!) decorating trends. So as others have stated, there is GREAT wallpaper and there is AWFUL wallpaper. I've seen it all!

This is the first home I've had no wallpaper in (almost 9 years old). I almost papered my dining room recently, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted and was turned off by the prices. I ended up painting it a dramatic color, but I do expect that this will change to wallpaper in the near future.

I'm redecorating my MB this Spring. I am almost certain I want wallpaper. I'm planning a subtle damask pattern for the bedroom, perhaps a toile for the adjacent bath (visible due to glass doors). I love toile, but to get the effect I want in fabric for the bedroom would be exhorbitant. So wallpaper will be a great way to (relatively cheaply) indulge myself.

Uhmmm, Teeda, wallpaper has been back in style for a few years now. There has been a resurgance of modern young designers take on wallpaper. Look at the Brocade catalogue

for the now trendy damask patterns - they aren't your grandmother's sedate damask - they are bolder. You'll also see a lot of modern graphic designs and photographic type papers. In addition there are lots of retro pattern wallpapers in bright colors and the aqua/brown/pink/blue colorways. Of course some of the newest, trendiest handcrafted wallpaper is extremely expensive and gorgeous - what else is new? LOL

I do love wallpaper in the right place. We have an older home with cheap paneling in one room. I finally painted and wallpapered it. I have done it 3 different times now. My hubby put up a chair rail on one long wall and across the end window wall. The room is long and narrow. We put up a wall and put a hot tub in behind a wall in one end. And the rest of the room is where you enter from the back of the house. I painted the door wall and below the chair rail a slate blue. Then I wallpapered the wall above the chair rail and all of the wall opposite the window. Then I ran a border all the way around. My wallpaper is kinda of a faux look with small red dots. My trim is white. I have a double window and am making a double layered topper out of small red check homespun. The bottom print is almost the same as the tan color in the wall paper. I am trying to decide if I want tabs or not. This type curtain is often in the country books we get in the mail We have a cabin in Southern Indiana and I hae made some for it. They are so cute. With the double layer, the curtain doesn't fade so quickly. I hope to get done this week. My hubby couldn't get over what a difference it made..

Yes you type the =. You're telling it "image source = (is)."

You can't insert a picture directly from your computer. You have to use some type of hosting service on the web. Many here use Photobucket. I like www.imageshack.us as I don't have to sign on, or remember a password, or keep any files there. Sometimes it temporarily misbehaves but most of the time it's just fine.

I may not be good at explaining this, sorry. If you type "how post photo" in the search box for this site, it will come up with articles that explain it better.
