Lars, I'm thinking of you
Comments (47)I also think the infection is better than the kidney stones, providing the infection is cured before it does any damage. At this point, I don't even want to think about it, and I'm having a hard enough time trying to figure out how I will manage what I need to get done in Texas. On top of that, my boss wants me to take work with me to Texas, even though (as I discussed with the COO), I do not have any pressing or urgent projects that must be finished right away - I'm caught up for the present. I told her I would be taking my laptop, but it does not have AutoCAD on it, and so I cannot do any working drawings. I have not tried installing any other drawing programs, but I might do that eventually. Because the laptop has Windows 7, a lot of programs simply will not install, including my astrology program, and that was one of the main programs I wanted to use on it. For now, I'm just using it for music, pictures, internet, and movies, and so it is more for entertainment than work. Sony Entertainment gave Kevin a laptop so that he could work at home, and he will be taking his as well. I do not expect to feel up to working on furniture designs while I am in Texas, especially with the heat. Lars...See MoreHow do you get soft towels and laundry in general?
Comments (36)Ditto on the powdered Tide w/ Bleach. I was using Persil Power Perls on my white loads until I ran out and couldn't get it at Wal-Mart anymore. So I had to switch to Tide w/ Bleach powder and, although I don't think the Tide is quite as effective on whites as the Persil was, I noticed that my towels are noticeably softer using the Tide. (No fabric softener or any other additives. Moderately hard water; top load Speed Queen washer.)...See MoreSoft Towels or Crunchy Towels- My dilemma
Comments (21)RH is owned by a guy design-guru who lives in LA. Their business model with all the stores seemed to fizzle because they went clubby and it became very masculine looking with all the "neutral" towels. And the prices went up. I don't get black and dark gray towels. I always buy silver gray as well. It just works with everything. I don't like white as those show everything and discolor. I will say this about the Coyuchi Air Weight towels. They are light (450 g) the colors are great and they aren't ridiculously priced, especially when they go on sale at 20% off. I have huge issues with their quality control and their shipping cost/efficiency. I returned as many towels for replacement as I bought. But if you have the patience to deal with them and ask for replacements and wait for the towels I will say they color weight and price are in their favor and the bath sheets are great. I found I don't care for traditional loop towels and these are a bit different in texture and I prefer that texture. They are sort of ribbed. On the back end they need FS but most do. OTOH, I bought the superluxe Waterworks towel wholesale from the distributor. Those were twice the price and they weren't twice as good and they lost half their weight when the lint came out and still needed FS. Kassatex makes a lot of different towel lines. Their customer service is excellent. They don't have great sales but the prices aren't crazy. Quality control isn't tops but may be worth a look at what they have now. Tomorrow and Monday are the days to buy. Just noticed they offer 30% off with a $250 purchase....See MoreLars, thank you for the recipe!!!
Comments (0)I've been wanting to make your Strawberry Ice Cream recipe ever since it was recently reposted. A get-together with a small group of friends at my house gave me the opportunity to make it even more special with ice cream. I used extra strawberrys and a cookie as a garnish... and a sprig of mint. It was every bit as delicious as promised. This recipe is definitely a keeper. PS: I made it as written. Lars Strawberry Ice Cream About 2 quarts 3 cups fresh ripe strawberries, stemmed and sliced 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice 1-1/2 cup sugar, divided 1-1/4 cups whole milk 2-3/4 cups heavy cream 2-3/4 1 tablespoon Cointreau or Grand Marnier (or 1-1/2 tsp vanilla) In a small bowl, combine the strawberries with the lemon juice and 1/2 cup of the sugar. Stir gently and allow the strawberries to maceratein the juices for 2 hours. Strain the berries, reserving juices. Mash or purée half the berries. In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk and remaining granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream, reserved strawberry juice, mashed strawberries, and Cointreau. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. Five minutes before mixing is completed, add the reserved sliced strawberries and let mix in completely. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours. Remove from freezer about 10 minutes before serving. *Note: You can increase the Cointreau to 2 tablespoons to make a softer ice cream....See Moremartinca_gw sunset zone 24
