French Toast Casserole - in Penzeys One
Comments (2)I've made a French Toast casserole very similar to that, we really enjoyed it. The berry sauce sounds really good with it, I'll be sure to try that the next time I make it. Thanks!...See MoreThe famous Stuffed French Toast
Comments (9)I've got it up and ready to go so here it is (last year I made it with croissants): Creme Brulee French Toast 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter 1 C. packed brown sugar 2 T. maple syrup 1/2 t. rum extract 1 country-style bread (an 8- to 9-inch round) 6 eggs 1 3/4 C. half-and-half 1 t. vanilla extract 2 teaspoons Grand Marnier 1/4 t. salt Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter with the sugar, maple syrup, and rum extract. Pour the mixture into the dish. Cut six 1 1/2-inch thick slices from the center of the bread. Arrange the bread slices in one layer in the baking dish, squeezing them slightly so they fit. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread. Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least 8 hours and for up to one day. Let the dish sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Set the oven at 350° F. Uncover the dish and bake the French toast for 35 to 40 minutes or until puffed and golden. Serve at once....See MoreRECIPE: overnight breakfast casserole
Comments (5)This recipe is simple but leaves you room to add in some family favorites - my cousin adds in some red bell pepper and another friend adds in some hot japalenos (diced/canned) - so I guess you can do what you wish with this recipe. OVERNIGHT BREAKFAST CASSEROLE 2 lbs. package frozen Hash Brown potatoes, thawed 1/4-1/2 cup chopped onions 1 lb. cooked, crumbled sausage (breakfast or Italian style - I use Italian) or cooked bacon or ham 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 8 -10 eggs 3 cups milk S & P to taste Spray 9 X 13 dish with cooking spray. Mix potatoes and onions, salt and pepper together and place in pan. Then spread sausage on top, then cheese. Beat eggs and milk (S & P) together and pour over other ingredients in pan, cover and set in refrigerator overnight. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour at 350*....See MoreLOOKING for: French Bread casseroles
Comments (5)This one sounds similar but serves 20 so you may need to reduce it: BUFFET BREAKFAST CASSEROLE (serves 20) 1 large loaf day-old French bread, torn into pieces 6 TBL melted butter 1/2 lb chopped ham 3/4 lb shredded Swiss cheese 1/2 lb shredded Monterey Jack 16 eggs 3 cups milk 3/4 cup dry white wine 4 green onions, thinly sliced 1/2 tsp cayenne 1 1/2 TBL Dijon mustard 1 1/2 cups sour cream 3/4 cup Parmesan Grease two 13x9x2" casserole dishes. Spread bread pieces in each pan & drizzle with butter. Sprinkle with ham, Swiss & Monterey Jack cheeses. Mix eggs, milk, wine, green onions, mustard & pepper & beat until foamy. Remove from oven, spread with sour cream & sprinkle tops with Parmesan. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes or until lightly browned.~~Tide & Thyme This one will work with stale French Bread also & can be halved: OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST (serves 15) 16 oz cream cheese, cubed 12 eggs, beaten 2 cups milk 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 8 slices white bread, crusts removed, cubed Combine cream cheese, eggs, milk, maple syrup & cinnamon in a bowl & mix well.
