I work from home also. I think it might depend what you do for a living and your ceiling height. My office has a NW window and it looks out on my back patio which is lush and green. My ceilings are only 8 feet. I would really dislike a ceiling that color. I think it would be 'heavy' and would not be conducive to the kind of thinking I need at work. If it was a higher ceiling, or angled it might work for me. I like darker ceiling colors but equate them with cozy and intimate not work and not energizing.

yes you can,,,and depending how long the rod is, you may need to lengthen it. as for painting, perhaps this will give you some ideas. trim work is very nice looking for the transition from the wall to the ceiling joint. both of these are beautiful. with and without trim so you can see. and dark and light colors I hate the brown, but gives you an idea. this ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as yours what does look good is wood ceiling inside the tray imagine wood like this. gorgeous. and then paint the slanted walls another option there are a bazillion pics of different ways to do these. just google "tray ceilings with fans" or 'tray ceilings" or look on Pinterest.

You already have too much going on here. The hanging macrame planter you are considering is kind of boho. The gold shelves are classic enough, but will not go with the boho look (unless you are doing ecelctic). Eclectic is fine, but you need to bring it all together with either color or texture. Have an overall plan before you do anything - for a unified and cohesive look. Access your storage, seating, and desk needs before you do anything else. Please give us photos of the rest of the room, as well as a floor plans and measurements. One wall does not function by itself. In interior design, we need to consider the floor, the ceiling, and each wall. Measure twice, buy once. You may want to switch out that white cabinet with a neutral colored bench with storage underneath. I'll bet people will want to sit on that white cabinet, so if you keep it - I hope it is sturdy enough to sit on. If you keep it, paint it a neutral color and put pillows on it.
