3. Do not buy white sofas. Horrible to keep clean, problem with matching all the other whites that you have already, boring.

4. Your design choices look great already to me relative to style. If this is a living room, you need something soft to sit in and a coffee table. I would go with something that stylewise ties into your shutters and your Florida/California (?) landscape.

5. Couple suggestions

Your room feels modern and minimalist already and not sure if white will make a difference and if its starkness will be complementary. Suggest a warmer color or even beige and if you do decide to change, consider comfort if room is used a lot.

-how do you usually use the room? living room? (main) sunroom?

-I can maybe see vaguely baby's chair? Do you have small children?

if yes (and if I'm mistakenm but you have other reasons for the room to function in this or that way-do you want/need a rug/a coffee table, and if yes, what are criterias?

you can have an ottoman in lieu of a coffee table, if sharp corners etc are a consideration.

But having more textures and useful surfaces would be great.

A rug can be a) indoor-outdoor or b) wool-expensive yet they withstand a lot. Yes, one can find them in white/black palette, and patters more geometrical, -giving an impression of more "modern" even if the pattern itself is used for hundreds of years.

Rugs are beautiful, and add so much-but I perfectly understand anybody who wouldn't be in a hurry to get one, I myself don't have a rug in my living because of all sorts of considerations. And your floors are nice enough. Still, let us know.

As for the sofas-are you looking for a different colorway in these, or new sofas altogether?

These seem more outdoorsy. I'd go for softer, inside type-unless that's a sunroom/you have other reasons to prefer outdoor sofas.

It can be: Sunbrella fabric, something off-white

leather, off white.

Black sofas will "ground" the room more though-and that might be a good consideration given very high ceilings

Both can look good imo, depending on your objectives.

As for the lines-the previous poster makes good suggestions...simple shape, straight lines, not too bulky.

I'd switch pillows too, variate textures/shapes somewhat. These look beautiful, but if the sofas will be different they'll take different visual space too, more room to play.

Love the rattan chairs(more pics would be indeed helpful!), art, and plants.

Yes, this is the main living room but mostly used for guests as we spend time in the living room upstairs.
No small kids but do agree that white is hard to maintain, specially as it tends to be dusty in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
I was also worried about white being too clinical.
As you mentioned, the current sofas are more like patio furniture so we want to get soft, comfortable sofas.
We are struggling to decide between cream/ beige and black. Will definitely drop white.

If there's dust-both cream/beige and black will be harder to maintain, black probably harder

unless again you go for leather-eathier to upkeep( even though also needs to be taken care of. but easier than fabrics)

or. a sofa in cream/beige, armchairs in print? as long as the pallette is tight still lots of room to play w/textures, and still not too overimposing (art etc need to be seen)

otherwise love Maureen's suggestions, these seem very cozyand inviting..but take into account your own "what my life style is", because you know it much better obviously

some people get upset if they/guests spill red wine allover, and some are like "eh, life happens"

I ventured into pattern suggestion 'cause easier to "hide" whatever spot's there..well, to a degree

Thank you again for all the input. I am going to check out a few options on different colors today. I prefer single colour to prints as the room is small and we are looking for a calm ambiance but will keep a watch out for prints as well.

The room is beautiful and the existing furniture looks nice but more of an outdoor or sun-room style. I would suggest you go for all upholstered furniture, no metal arms.

Maybe consider a salt and pepper fabric…not so stark black or plain white, but would add a lot of depth to your b/w color scheme without adding the chaos of a lot of pattern.
