Kohler Dickinson apron-front sink vs. Rohl fireclay farmhouse
Comments (10)We have the Dickinson and have been very happy with it. But, Johnliu really did say it best. After drooling over the Rohl I realized I didn't want to shred my nerves over a sink or anything else anymore. I've seen 30 year old cast iron sinks that lived in households with 5 kids and they looked fine. DH all by himself can be the equivalent of 5 kids in the kitchen so I figured I was okay with the Dickinson. Bottom line, I guess, is "know thyself" (as well as the habits of others who will use the sink) and choose accordingly....See MoreKohler Dickenson apron sink
Comments (0)Does anyone have one of these? I saw one in a store and it looked beautiful, though it is expensive -- $1,551 suggested retail, $1,163 at the store, and I found it for about $950 (including shipping) online, though I know there are risks to getting a sink that way. Thank you!...See MoreKohler Dickenson apron sink
Comments (6)From a different perspective (I design and build custom cabinets) We have done several kitchens with apron front sinks. All but one has been fireclay (Shaw). They are very irregular and can be difficult to get level with the top of the cabinets. Cheaper fireclay sinks can be tempting, but will crack if you try and use a disposal. The last farmhouse sink we did was the Kohler cast iron. I liked the look and consistency, but wanted to mention two things. 1. The contractor purchased from Amazon and it took 3 attempts to get a sink that wasn't damaged in shipping. (UPS). They are NOT packaged nearly as well as the Shaw sinks. 2. The sink can only overhang (stick out) 1/2" from the face of the cabinet. If you using overlay doors, your sink will be at least 1/4" shallow of your fronts. On the Shaw sinks with inset doors, we usually overhang 1- 1 1/2" brent...See MoreKohler white apron sink
Comments (3)Hi, I finished my renovation in July. I used a Rohl fireclay white apron front sink. I love the look of it. I haven't noticed that it scratches easily. It still looks good and I've washed a lot of pots and baking trays in the last few months. What I don't like about the sink is that the water and sink stuff (food etc) tends to not go down the drain. The water wants to stay in the corners of the sink so I am constantly having to use the spray attachment to clean the sink when I use it. I would use it again because I love the look. I have a walnut countertop and that , too, is beautiful but I would not do that again near the sink because I am constantly wiping it. Hope this helps. FYI- I have an extra Rohl farm sink that was the wrong size for my remodel if you're interested let me know. It may not be worth it because of shipping....See MoreD I
