Kohler white apron sink

Anyone have a white apron sink? Are you happy with it? I've heard they scratch?

We have a Kohler white cast iron apron front sink. It does scratch so you have to be careful when washing/soaking any metal pots or pans. I have a mat that we use when soaking a pan is necessary and that really helps. If I have to clean something that is larger than the sink, I just hang a kitchen towel over the side. Most of the scratches we have are minor and don't go through the white coating. Keeping it clean is simple and keeps dirt out of the scratches so that they don't show.

Having said that, I wouldn't get another white sink. I am going with a stainless steel apron front sink for my kitchen renovation. I had a stainless steel sink in my previous home and loved it.

I finished my renovation in July. I used a Rohl fireclay white apron front sink. I love the look of it. I haven't noticed that it scratches easily. It still looks good and I've washed a lot of pots and baking trays in the last few months. What I don't like about the sink is that the water and sink stuff (food etc) tends to not go down the drain. The water wants to stay in the corners of the sink so I am constantly having to use the spray attachment to clean the sink when I use it.
I would use it again because I love the look. I have a walnut countertop and that , too, is beautiful but I would not do that again near the sink because I am constantly wiping it. Hope this helps.
FYI- I have an extra Rohl farm sink that was the wrong size for my remodel if
you're interested let me know. It may not be worth it because of shipping.

I have the kohler vault short apron 36" sink. The main reason I ordered it for the smart divide. I wanted to have the extra room to wash large pans but also to have the option of a second sink side. Most apron fronts I found we one basin or had a full divider. I think the sink looks great and was exactly what I was looking for.

I think the shortie is specifically for retrofit jobs, IIRC. It is a gorgeous sink, mad the drain placement is awesome. But most colors will jack the price hugely. There are many happy Whitehaven owners here.

I have had the Kohler white apron front sink for about 2 years now. I think it is just about the favorite thing that I did in my updating! It is so much easier to wash large pots, etc., and I have never had any scratches! It is undermounted, and I have blue pearl granite. I too, wasn't sure whether to get cast iron, or fireclay, but I have been so pleased with this one! I learned on this forum a long time ago, to use "Bar Keeper's Friend" to lightly clean it. It looks like a cleanser ( Comet, etc. type can), but not as abrasive. I just sprinkle it inside my sink, wet a paper towel, and lightly wipe the inside. It will make it look new! I highly recommend this sink; you won't be disappointed! I had always heard that the fireclay product was more prone to chip, but everyone seems to like it also!

"Would the owners have any recourse with the original installer? I can't imagine they're the only ones who have had this trouble with them..." After speaking to the company and being told that "we never rod", I had a homeowner take the removed rod into their showroom with a video of me removing it once. The company promised a new top after the homeowner spent $700.00 having me fix the old one, but I doubt they offered reimbursement. I blame the builders for this. As a fabricator, you could have an ongoing relationship with builder for years, then get called into the office and told to lower your prices or you were out; they have someone new. You're going to start looking for things to cut, so you buy cold steel instead stainless for rodding and "save" 50% by buying polyester instead of epoxy for bedding those rods. Strapping sinks takes a bit longer for a more expensive installer than Jimmy drilling inserts at the shop. And let's not stop at the builders. Homebuyers love that the more cheaply done countertops have freed up budget for those nicer window treatments. I doubt the lady at this job has much recourse, but she did tell me all the homes in this development, $1,000,000.00 +, probably had the same fabrication sub. Even if the rod doesn't blow, they still have a nasty, gunky, unsanitary, un-cleanable sink flange right where they're prepping family food. Such is the importance of proper sink detailing that I keep ranting about. Good job security for me, but it hurts our industry
