Scratch on Kohler cast iron apron front sink
Comments (8)Thank you, everyone. We are meeting with the builder tomorrow and I am going to do that "point and ask." I want to hear their suggestions and remedies. My biggest problem now is that I doubt I can get another granite slab to replace this countertop if anything happens while trying to put in a new sink. We picked 2 consecutive numbered slabs for the kitchen after we looked at all the others in the lot. The 2 we picked were very well matched in color tone and movement but the others all looked a bit off from what we wanted. Advertguy, it isn't a dent, but a scratch in the glazing and I can feel it by running my fingernails across the surface. I will have to say that the plumber was definitely not superman but had a super big gut. The picture I have is of him leaning across the sink to adjust the pull out on the faucet and then swiveling to reach a tool. It's putting a shiver up my spine just thinking about it....See MoreApron Sink Granite Retrofit
Comments (14)" It cannot be removed from underneath." gr8day: Sure it can. Pop off your doors, place a block on the back of the cabinet front and tap it off. If you're frameless, remove the front panel and Sawzall the screws and dowels holding the front stretcher in place. It will all go back together seamlessly, I promise. I drove from home, Sarasota, Florida, to Baltimore, Maryland, last year to help a friend bail an architect out of trouble. 30 hours of driving to work 6. Apparently it was cheaper to pay me than to pay the fine for opening the store behind schedule. Comments (8)Yes. I had a 50/50 before and have had to adjust:) The divided Whitehaven (70/30) had the smaller part on the wrong side for my set up. My old 50/50 cast iron sink, even though it was for a 36" cabinet, had much smaller bowls, so you might want to see that 50/50 in person - it might be big enough. I have worked it out by using a dish rack with sides which I keep in the left inside of my sink. I also have a little pretty wood rack for some depression glass and other hand washables. My drain is way to the right, but the Vault drain is in the middle - that might make a difference for making something like this work. : That one is by Simplehuman, but there are others. Here is a similar gray one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07539JCNB/ref=asc_df_B07539JCNB5298712/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B07539JCNB&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216558267793&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2460828519382747571&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018505&hvtargid=pla-361925929854 Different company - I don't have any experience with this one: http://www.qvc.com/Squish-Dish-Rack.product.K305653.html?colorId=000&sizeId=000&ref=GAS&cm_mmc=GOOGLESHOPPINGFEED--GShopping|L|BrandProduct|cooking+dining--pla--sCaLVwTno|dc_400057871687__K305653-000-000&mkwid=sCaLVwTno|dc_pcrid_400057871687_pkw__pmt__productid_K305653-000-000&TZ=EST I recently got the sink grids for my sink because I did not want to ding the cast iron and now the in-sink dish rack won't sit flat - so I am keeping my eyes out for another. Many here on this forum do not use dish racks. I have rinsed recyclables and non-dishwasher pot and pans so understand the desire for a dish rack - but be prepared for some to tell you to live without one:) I hope Joe chimes in - he knows every sink out there....See MorePorcelain/enamel repair kit suggestion for my Kohler Cast Iron Sink?
Comments (18)Well the trim on the front of the sink won't let it slide down and the fact that the sink is deeper than the apron means it wouldn't slide forward without destroying the cabinet front. However it is in an island, it would be easiest to remove the countertop and pull it out. Of course that means pulling out the garbage disposal and faucet. Its all doable even by us (with some additional muscle for moving the countertop) just not worth it to us yet unless it gets much worse. I found a light cured acrylic surface repair kit. (It can be used on porcelain, ceramic, marble but its acrylic.) Its worth it to me to try this first especially because that's a spot that's usually covered. DH did agree with you all that we should probably go ahead and get the replacement, but we're not in a hurry to switch it out yet. We've still got lots of work ahead of us in this kitchen yet. Here's a picture of the front of the island right after the countertop went on....See MoreRelated Professionals
