If you are planning a new kitchen, then you can plan the reno around using an apron sink, and there will only be a couple of hundred dollars of incidental expenses over a regular sink choice. If you are retrofitting, then the sink is the cheapest part of the retrofit. You'll have to alter the sink base cabinet to accept the much deeper sink by having the doors remade or removed (with a curtain put in their place) and then build a cradle to support the sink. The extra depth of the sink may require you opening the wall and lowering the waste arm of the plumbing drain as water won't drain uphill. Those costs can approach a couple of thousand in a expensive cost of living location. Then you'll need new countertops, or to have the stone fabricators to come back out and see if they can recut the existing counter to work with the sink. So it all depends on what type of renovation you will be doing as to whether or not this is a "bargain" for you.

If anyone has used the Kohler Dickinson Apron Sink in Biscuit could you share a picture? Also if you have painted trim in your kitchen what color did you choose? Did you try to match the sink or use a traditional white trim color? Thanks for any help you can give.

This is an old thread so not sure these folks are around anymore--you may have better luck posting a new question--but we have a Cape Dory that we put in about 12 years ago using the Kohler mounting kit. We did not reinforce it otherwise, though our cabinets have very solid plywood boxes. Our plumber installed the sink but we did the mounting kit piece since he hadn't used it before. There are also some options for third party straps that will work too--someone with more familiarity with those may be able to recommend one for the Irontones sink. We just used the Kohler kit because it's what we knew about and Kohler stood behind it in case anything went sideways, but it's been trouble-free. We wanted to be able to remove and replace the sink from below if needed without removing the counters, though happily have never needed to do this. We don't have quartz counters (ours are soapstone) but not sure that would make much difference since the counters sit on top of it.

Hi CalifKitchen - Sorry I was not clear, we ended up going with a pair of the faucets for the larger sink. I dropped in a pic below. I cannot imagine you would have problem with reach on the Karbon but cannot comment specifically on that. Regarding whether they go or not they go together, you have to stay true to what you like - I LOVE classic and modern together. I think the tension is interesting, and seems less dated to me than working within just one more consistent time trend. Your Shaw and Karbon remind me of the several classic pedestal sinks I have in my house all with modern faucets, I love them together! (But I am also a person who made choices that other people would not have, which is totally cool with me.) And as Fori points out, facuets are easy to replace, you could enjoy them for a few years and later change them out if you get tired of the combo. Just make sure the sink is a keeper! :-)
