I'm living alone and, every so often, my great grandson pops up on the screen and we chat and laugh. I'm loving it.

Now I'm grateful for all y'all's gratitude ❣️

The rain we got today! Here in New Mexico we’ve been without good moisture this entire year. I am/we are all so grateful for it today. . . and more predicted for tomorrow!

I'm thankful the wrecked house is nearly painted. All of the new baseboard is up. I'm thankful that they also painted all the doors facing the interior of the kitchen, livingroom and hallway, something I really didn't expect them to do. It looks so nice! They painted all the ceilings. They also came 3 days early so now I can go see my son next week.

I am thankful my 2 teen grandkids are here with us this week. All to soon they will be "too old" or "too busy" to spend time with us, so I am soaking it up. We're baking & cooking, they're going to decorate for Christmas, (they don't know that yet, LOL) we're playing card games and watching sappy movies. It's just wonderful.

I am grateful that yesterday, my grandson's school hosted an event for grandparents and other special friends (some kids have no grandparents in the area) to come see what they are up to in the classrooms and the school in general. He's 14 now and I was fully involved as his caregiver in his grade school activities, but middle school and post-covid is different. I don't know his friends, no more play dates or grandma field trips with his little friends, which I miss immensely. He also invited one of my closest friends who has fostered a very special 'auntie' relationship with him over the years - she's also been very interested in his school experiences.

It was delightful to see him with his friends, learn how wonderful this school is at facilitating learning and kindness and awareness. Unbeknownst to me, he invited one of his friends to join us on our tour (all the classes had interactive demo's and games). His friend's family is from somewhere across the world (I didn't ask from where, just when I asked if he had grandparents in the area, he said, "No, they are halfway around the world.") He was delightful and my heart swelled at the generosity and caring my grandson showed by inviting him to join us. I was able to see him hanging out with a group of really nice kids, all having a wonderful time entertaining all of us old folks. My heart is full.

I am thankful for everyday I wake up. I am also thankful my big move is finally over and I can officially start to settle into my new home and build a new garden. And I am thankful for my amazing family who instigated the entire process so I would have secure and affordable housing going forward. I am overwhelmed by their generosity. And I am thankful for the wee furry creature that shares my life on a shared, part time basis - he is a constant delight!!

I am just so incredibly lucky compared to so many and I try never to forget that.

I'm grateful my business is "on track". I'm grateful Home Depot broke their own rules and helped me get the correct parts for the carport I ordered from them. All 3 were a problem, if someone hadn't stepped in...and stepped up....I would not have been able to have it complete, for the install. Three houses, my neighbors included, have new roofs and guttering when roofing materials were unavailable. All the dogs I've considered adopting have found homes...without my intervention. I'm lucky that here in Colorado we don't have euthanasia lists we publish, for adoptable dogs. I'm grateful I completed planting a memorial garden with 100 white lilies. An idea I got after my neighbor died of pancreatic cancer 4 weeks ago. I hope this garden brings peace to those that see it. I'm grateful I found a HUGE turkey, 26.5lbs...to make our feast day complete. I'm grateful it all works out.

I am grateful for a grandchild I never thought I would have. He is 2 and runs to my arms yelling "Pat, Pat Pat!" because he cannot say Grandma Pat yet. And I am so grateful for his brother or sister that will be born in April. Rocky pregnancy, but I am grateful.

I am grateful for my dog, Nala. She has Cushings disease and has lived beyond expectations. It was a rough year for me with lots of medical problems. But it makes me so happy to see her sweet face and tail waging. I have learned so much from her and to live in the moment.

I am grateful for my cat, Maisie. I am grateful for my wonderful son and his family. I am grateful I am not in Gaza, or Ukraine, or Guatemala, or Eritrea, or in the path of a fire, or under flood waters. I am grateful that I have enough money to live a simple life, hot and cold running water, a warm house, good friends. And I'm grateful that I have lived most of my life before the planet really turns into hell.
