Rain Rain Go Away!
Comments (13)Thanks for all the suggestions. I talked about golf ball size hail, actually that same storm had softball size too, not here, but real close by at the airport. Ruined all of Hertz Rental cars that were parked there. I got brave today and planted a few. Now it looks like we might have another storm tonight...hopefully no hail, just rain and strong winds. I guess the worse that could happen would be that they get broken off and I am assuming they would grown another sprout. I do have some heavy duty rebar stakes. I guess that might protect them some, unless, a tornado would hit us. Oh well, I always love a challenge....I may have to wait a few more days now to try and plant the remainders. I have thought about putting some of them in planters...that way I could at least move them out of harms way if there should be more storms. Is there anyplace in these United States that doesn't have some kind of weather issues? I guess that would be called "paradise". I really appreciate all the good advice you guys give on this forum. Don't know what I would do without you...wish me luck...and some good weather!...See MoreTime for another "what are you thankful for" thread . . .
Comments (17)I record Oprah's Super Soul Sunday as she has on the most interesting spiritual thinkers on and the discussions they have are very thought provoking. Last night I was watching the one with Brene Brown, author of Daring Greatly. She mentioned from her studies she's found that those that are most joyful are also most grateful. Or as Betty Mahalik puts it, "Joy and gratitude go hand in hand. We are not grateful because we're happy, rather we're happy because we're grateful." I have so much to be grateful for, I wouldn't know where to begin...from the best husband in the world, to the privilege of being able to return home to the place where I grew up when I needed it the most, to the simplest of things like a warm fire on a cold day or the miracle of hot and cold running water...can you imagine dealing with the alternative??? I am grateful for this thread which caused me to pause and remind myself of how fortunate I am, and I'm grateful for the miracle of the internet which allows us to share our gratitude across so many thousands of miles with strangers who have become friends here at the gardenweb. Thank you....See MoreWould you care to be traumatized as well? (Caution: x-rated)
Comments (30)I just remembered after reading these posts about a picture DH took. He and Ricky were looking for bugs to take pictures of and Ricky starting yelling "I found a double bug papa" ...this is what he found...to this day he thinks it's a rare double bug thanks to papa! I just hope he never talks about his "rare" find at school and the teacher want to see this picture! These moths were huge!...See MoreToday I am grateful for __________
Comments (25)I"m grateful for my new sandals. After a couple years worth of foot injury and thinking I might not be able to wear fun sandals again, now I got four pairs of good orthos! My sister gifted me with a nicer pair for an outdoor event we are in soon. Then I found a little local shop that carries a few lines of nice ortho shoes along with a selection of nice clothing. Now I have two pairs of flip-fops and a good sturdy strappy pair of regular out and about sandals. The flip-flops are more for a bit of around the house rather than going anywhere. Not quite the barefoot or barely soled foot of a lot of my life, but a damn sight better and then some than having my feet encased in special socks, sleeves, and enclosed shoes for another summer. I'm extra grateful that right now, I can afford the extra bucks on some good footwear, and also help support local business....See More- 2 years ago
