Yesterday while I was folding some laundry, I just happened to look out the window that is behind the dryer. I saw a bird with its tail feathers sticking up. This looked very strange to me. I stood there wondering what on earth this silly bird was doing, as this was not just your normal "bird stance" by far. After a few seconds another bird landed next to this bird. This new bird had its feathers so poofed out that it looked hilarious. I, of course, assumed that this was the MALE bird, being that his chest was puffed out the way that it was. He obviously felt as though he might be the king of all the birds that ever lived, that is how I felt he portrayed himself. I could tell he was an arrogant little twit. I was very amused by this. The other bird was still there with its tail feathers doing their thing. THEN, however, the poofed up bird did some bizarre sex strut over to the bird with the tail feather issues and............ an explicit act took place in my very back yard. It was over in mere seconds and both of them flew away. I stood there, I know with my mouth dropped open. Then I might have laughed and told DH who didn't seem to care all that much.

I am still a tad bit traumatized by this.

Today, I am thankful that I am not a bird. As I would prefer not to perform x rated activities in the back yards of innocent bystanders.

I wonder if all birds look that funny when certain acts take place?

Anyway, just thought that I would share with my KT friends. :)

I'm guessing most birds have to 'do it' that way. I dunno, never saw them do it missionary.... ahm,,,

My birds have a quicky at least once a day and yes, I used to be tramatized if I happened to be sitting near by. They have their funny sounds they make and the girl seems to have the least interesting part. :?/

I try not to give them any attention during their private time, like they care. :)

I have had the misfortune of seeing Chickens mate. I wouldn't want to be a Hen.

By far the worst experience was Duck mating. The Male holds the Female underwater. Think goodness it didn't last long. (That was on the Golf Course in Public View).

I guess, "Not tonight Honey, I have a headache", doesn't fly.

The first comment person [ slavetograss] had it correct in my opinion right from the start.Pennington seed is the worst i ever used and their 60 day gaurantee is worthless but not for them.AFTER 60 days they dont want to know you.I bought 2 large bags of REBEL and used some in the shady areas and some in the sun areas even added seeds.watered took care and what happened Most areas started to grow like weak fuzz grass slowly and then stopped slowed and turned to haylike clogs.Cost me $ 150.Where my old grass is that still doing well All i got was a headache In my opinion the seed and the Company match. Not recommended!

Paxfleur, it seems that Striped Panther is fragrant in the daytime & not much at night. I'm sure that humidity plays a role in carrying the scent as well. It took a little bit longer to open & mature but I thought is was the lower temps in my greenhouse slowing it down. I am very pleased with the scent & the flower is just lovely. Amputo has a good scent, light & sweet like lilies with a citrus undertone. Pink Floyd has a stronger scent than Amputo but softer than Striped Panther. It's a little touchy to grow, needs more heat than most & hates being bare rooted. I think it's a selection of or primary hybrid of H. doraniae. Blossom Peacock has a light scent, to my nose about the same as Appleblossom. It also has the happy habit of popping up bloom scapes in mid summer : )It seems to throw more scent from it's summer blooms, maybe it's just more heat & humidity at work. Appleblossom & Ludwig Dazzler both have good scent -if you can find the right version-. I think there are several editions on the market, some with no fragrance at all. What I have as H. vittatum is very fragrant. I'm not totally sure that it is true to name & I plan on testing it's ploidy againts Calgary to see if it's dip or tet.It seems awfully big for a dip :~ Misty, I've not caught any fragrance from it at all. It seems to be a bit difficult to breed for fragrance. It seems that both parents need scent genes or the children get very little or nothing : ( Since there aren't that many scented hippis available to work with it narrows the possibilities. I did get a great cross with Pink Floyd and the fragrant white trumpet noid from Hadeco & have about 100 seedlings from last year. I'm betting they have a good chance for scent. I'm also a little worried about my Pink Floyd X Jade Serpent babies. If it takes scent from both parents, and one smell like lilies & the other has genes for burnt plastic scent will the babies smell like burnt plastic lilies.......... Lora

I have a feeling that some people have jumped to an extreme conclusion after dealing with a kid who's just a little inexperienced. First, I've never seen a single review on my trading, and I've been trading for years. Neither have I ever posted a review for anyone or checked anyone out here before trading. If no one would trade with me without a "good review", I would have never traded. So I guess my conclusion is that the "review" forum is kind of a sound-off for bad trades only... I think some of these details needs to be cleared up before this kid is tagged a "scammer." Gabi, that's a little harsh for the stuff I'm reading here. I'm reading that with Ramazz, he took the cheap way out and sent plants that took too long to arrive and arrived in bad condition. I get the impression from his posts that he learned his lesson. Has anyone else here had him send plants this way? If not, then that issue has been dealt with. SG, I do have just a little trouble with the fact that the post office gave the box Ramazz sent to another person... What was their explanation for that? I mean, if a box gets stolen off my porch, that's one thing. But the point of having a P.O. box is that your mail is safe in the hands of the post office. If Ramazz had a delivery confirmation number, I'd have asked for the number and would have been all over that P.O., giving them serious heck about giving away my box... And calling him a "nut case" because the seeds didn't arrive is a little harsh, too. Tvalenti or SG, did you check the address exchanged to make sure it was correct? On an early trade, I transposed two of the numbers in my address when giving it to the sender. It took a few extra days, but our P.O. managed to get it to me anyway, and at first I was a little ticked that the sender messed it up. Of course, I then discovered that I was the one that screwed it up! Now I double check my e-mails before seding them, and I triple check addresses I put on packages! But had it been me, SG, I probably would have continued to send the seeds until they got there, no matter how many times it took... Or found a way to make it up to the other trader. There are things we just learn by trial and error. I learned early on not to send cuttings or plants in those flimsy flat priority boxes. Someone I sent to got a box of them that had been crushed. Now I send them only in very sturdy boxes and put packing peanuts in to support it in case it gets banged around. I got a box of cuttings recently in one of those boxes that had been smashed and lost all but one of the cuttings because they were just beyond salvaging... Anyway, I just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in here. SG, if I were you, I'd see if you could find a few people you had good trades with to come on here in your defense. (Good for Jean for coming forward...) When this kind of rhetoric gets going, it tends to turn into a bash-fest. I think you've taken a step in the right direction by offering to send your package first and making the box coming to you contingent on the other person's satisfaction with your plants or seeds arriving in good condition... My desktop doesnt do sleep mode and it, and the monitor, with no power packs for printer or scanner draws 130watts. The monitor power consumption is only about 5watts of that total with the graphic card blanking its screen - the monitor is EnergyStar and that energy saver mode virtually switches it off. Sort of costs me nearly $13 per month, when I'm not actually sitting there using the computer by not turning it off. The little Wall Transormers I have plugged into a seperate power strip. Think the most energy hungry wall transformer was the one on my router and it was 7 watts. My laptop on its ac adaper, other than while defragging or other intensive use, is 21 watts running, turn off its display and its usually 15 watts, put on a screensaver and its slightly more than 21 watts - some of the 3d screen savers it jumps the watts up considerably higher. At 45 minutes of non use the laptop goes into its sleep mode and then its using just 1 watt. The digital cable tv box 19 watts when turned off, 20 watts when turned on. My 32 inch tv, its EnergyStar rated - 155 watts, for commercials anyhow. The watts fluctuate maybe 30 watts depending on what's playing. Would think perhaps the TV producers could save the whole of americas some energy in their production methods. The TV has a couple of options for energy savings, I use them and the typical tv program is 80 watts but at commercial time it will jump to around 100watts. News channels use a bit more watts, maybe 120watts in energy saver mode.

I saw monkeys in the wild. Well, it was on TV but was the funniest thing. They were sneaking and really seemed like teenagers trying not to get caught. He'd run to her, hump hump, and run away so they could look out for passersby. Run to her, hump hump, and run away again. Not so shocking as your sneak-a-peak but sure was funny.

My alltime favorite was going to the aquarium in the spring and noticing that the male whale had what looked like a smaller sized long fish swimming under him. Well...you know the term "hung like a horse"? That horse doesn't hold a candle to that whale!!! THe funniest thing was listening to the various parents trying to explain what that "other" fish was who was stuck to the bottom of the whale!!!!

LOL Heather. It seems to be the season for birds mating.

A few weeks ago I visited an ostrich farm with my DD and her friend. I was feeding one when suddenly she let out a "gak" her neck went up and she did this "dying swan" thing. I thought I'd done her in LOL.

Then a male came racing across the corral and mounted her. Ostriches make growling,purring noises while mating.

The males are quite well endowed as well as being beautiful.

i guess if you can say sex is pretty, seahorses are winners. they sort of wrap around each other...they used to have this place in la jolla that had seahorse tanks in dining room...talk about an interesting place to see "action", lol...

Oh my goodness. I am traumatized. If only I had a fainting sofa!!!! LOL!!!! I don't guess it would help much. It would be covered with dogs.

This brings to mind my friend who was with his son in the pasture a few years ago. They saw a bull and a cow together and the little boy asked his dad, why doesn't he just go around instead of jumping over her?

When I was in High school we took a trip to the Omaha zoo. We happened to see to Rhino's going at it. Our principal was in charge of our group and his face turned so red as he rushed us along. I did get the chance to take a picture of them.

The second time was when DH and I were in the San Diego Zoo. They were letting people feed the giant tortoises. We looked over to the corner and there were 2 tortoises getting it on. The sounds they were making were so loud and funny, Dh and I about died laughing.

I was on a golf course and waiting to tee off, we gals were watching a mama robin trying to get a worm out of the ground, all the while a young robin (I asumed it was one of hers) was standing there with its mouth wide open waiting for the worm. All of a sudden a male robin swooped down and mounted her, and we all said guess men are all alike! LOL Dottie

LOL!! I have a bunch of horny doves in my backyard. There is even a pair of gay doves ... no kidding, they preen and pose and then mate ... then do it all over again with the other dove on top. They've been back a few times, so I am sure that is what is going on, LOL!!

I was riding my friends mare when another friends stallion decided to mount her..I slipped off to just miss his love bite by a smidge!!!!

The sparrows have been prolific in my back yard for weeks..and the Anna's humming birds I've had with me all fall and winter..are now nesting..I watched that love twist too..

I saw 2 snails doing it by my planter box one day outside the kitchen door.I wasn't very nice though,i stepped into the kitchen,grabbed the salt shaker and ended it for them.I'm sure they melted with a smile on their face.LOL

LOL The male pigeons around here having been driving me crazy with their dances and strutting. Silly things even fall off the tree. I don't know which ones are doing all the moaning the male or female but I wish they would stop. LOL I need to turn the radio on to drown them out.

I don't have just one pigeon there must at least 6 that roost on my neighbour's roof.

i'm paying myself a nickel...this afternoon DH and I were driving around and were pulling into a friends driveway and the BIG BOY Daddy Goose flew right at and into the car...he was protecting the wife and babies off to the side...scared us both cause we both worried we had hurt him...but he was just protectin his turf! Nuttin like a goose tryin to commit HariKari into your car!

What I failed to admit to, was that I went to You Tube and typed in Grackle Sex, and Grackle Mating hoping to find a video of it to show DH. Or maybe to laugh about it again?

This thread brings back memories of growing up on the farm. Dad didn't have a bull so the Artificial Inseminator man would come and "do it" to the cows. Of course my brother and I would run to the barn to watch. Here's a nickel, liz, I obviously need some help.

Heather, your post has me cracking up! And remembering a time long ago when I asked my hubster what was 'wrong' with the frogs in the front flowerbed...they were foaming and 'together'!

Just call me Lisa, Lisa Douglas from Green Acres! He told me what they were up to and I promptly went back in the house with my flashlight.

Hahaha....Nature is a such a teacher! :)

I just remembered after reading these posts about a picture DH took. He and Ricky were looking for bugs to take pictures of and Ricky starting yelling "I found a double bug papa" ...this is what he found...to this day he thinks it's a rare double bug thanks to papa! I just hope he never talks about his "rare" find at school and the teacher want to see this picture!

These moths were huge!
