Need help picking exterior cottage colors! Help!
Comments (13)I noticed the same thing Sylvia did; the house examples posted all have the total body painted one color. Your house currently seems to have more trim than it does house. I think the grays and greens posted would look great on your house if the V-shaped area under the roofline (not the facia board) is painted the same as the body. You could still keep the trim white. Please come back and show us the completed project....See MoreExterior_remodel_colorchange
Comments (15)I’m buying this house eventhough I’m not thrilled with the exterior and because of that I was on the fence for a long time. The floor plan is perfect and overall quality is quite superior. It seats on a 25 acre wooded lot yet close to everything in the middle of the town. I also have to update kitchen and bathrooms. I sure have my work cutout. But it’s a unique property. I can’t/ shouldn’t change the “cottage” style but perhaps a flair of “modern English cottage”?...See MoreI need help with exterior color choices.
Comments (0)We are remodeling our lake cottage in New Hampshire. For the siding we are planning on Allura (https://allurausa.com/blog/color-spotlight-plunge-pool) cement board 5” exposure textured clapboard in Plunge Pool color (green grey). The sofits and gables are/will be painted brown and the window exterior casings are a bronze/brown color. We were thinking of making the corner boards and window/door trim the same plunge pool color, but our GC is questioning this choice. He thinks we should go with a brown. We will have a brown walnut garage door and will be staining the front wood door to match garage or keep it natural like the fir posts and beams on porches. There will be natural color shakes over garage door. For the front deck railing we are planning to have natural fir hand rail with dark balusters. We are trying to keep away from any white or beige. What is your opinion? Would it look okay to have the front of the house with all the windows the plunge pool and the rest of the house brown? I am including some current photos of the house....See MoreExterior trim color help, please
Comments (2)Details you want to highlight paint in contrasting colors, details you want to hide, paint the same as the siding. I kind of like the "ski chalet" look. It's unique and interesting. So many houses these days are cookie cutter....See MoreKaarina P
