Size for edge or tab pulls for drawers

HomeSweetHome

We have researched a bit about tab or edge pulls for drawers. The recommendation is to use 1/3 of the overall width of the drawer.

What is confusing is that should 1/3 be from center to center of the pull or is it the overall length of the pull.

For example, a 12 inch pull’s overall length is 13.25” and the center to center is 12”. A 10” inch pull’s overall length is 11.25” and center to center is 10”.

Now I do have 36” drawers, which means I should be using a 12” pull. Which one should I use? The 10” pull with an overall length of 12” OR a 12” pull with an overall length of 13”? I know it’s a matter of an inch, but I do want to see what most of you have gone with.
