Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! I can't explain it but I am just really glad to see a loss after 4 months of very slow progress....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 7/9/2023
Comments (24)@legomom23 I'm so sorry you've caught covid and have been sick. I hope that it remains mild and that you feel back to normal soon. It sounds like you're being smart and listening to what your body is ready for in terms of activity. @Funkyart I'm glad you've made it through your surgery and dental work. That is a lot. I completely understand that sometimes we only have capacity for managing one or a few challenging health things at a time. It sounds like you're making great progress and ready to work on the next item on the list (thyroid). I will say that as someone also on thyroid medication, it is life-changing for me and I feel immensely better and more able to do physical activity when my levels are correct. I also completely understand and sympathize with the frustration of maintaining / plateauing when you want to progress. From what you've described, it sounds like you've already had amazing progress and really are doing well from an improved health perspective. I am certain that you will continue moving forward in time, it just may be slower because you are so much closer to your goal. @gsciencechick I love that! Sorry I haven't been great about keeping up to date here. While I am mostly over that horrific cold I had, I am still struggling with some residual coughing (not bad, but sometimes at night or after/during exertion of exercise), runny nose, and low energy. This week and last week I have been back fully on track with my morning (summertime) cardio exercise of swimming and running. I am also back on track in terms of doing my 5:2 IF. I had to pause while I was sick because when I tried to do it while sick, it made me way more sick. (Lesson learned.) I am now battling the 2 extra pounds from being sick on top of the few extra pounds I was already fighting. I think I'm down 1lb after 1-2 weeks of getting mostly back on track. I am trying to refocus on IF and even more so on reducing snacking and focusing on healthy meals. I am not, however, back on track in terms of weight lifting. I am unbelievably busy at work. I've recently been talking with an HR consultant and she was shocked that I am doing significant individual contributor software engineering work on top of having 8 direct reports to manage. I love what I do, but some weeks it's just a LOT. Now I'm being added to more senior leadership meetings in addition to my already busy schedule and suddenly I don't even have 20-30min at lunch time to lift weights every day. I've gotten to it once this week, but I need to get back on track....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 9/17/2023
Comments (13)Yesterday was my first day out of the house and I made a beeline for our community farmers’ market. Delicious veggies and fresh eggs were in abundance, and I bought a lot from my favorite vendor. In the bag: red new potatoes and the most delicious green and purple okra! Also some very small cute red and yellow biquinho sweet peppers (not visible) that I am planning to use in salads. A beautiful eggplant, freshly hulled limas and black eyed peas, garlic garlic, and two varieties of tomato. I harvested my back porch basil and made this for yesterday’s lunch homemade basil walnut pesto on toast, topped with slices of heirloom tomato, heavenly! I’ve already cooked the peas in chicken broth and have made a beans and rice dish to be eaten throughout the week, and have roasted eggplant slices, the potatoes, and four older tomatoes we already had (with olive oil and balsamic vinegar). The latter I scraped off the pan, mashed thoroughly and now have a delicious savory tomato jam I used on my and DH’s morning eggs today. I am going to make dilled potato salad with the roasted potatoes as I find using them gives the dish so much more flavor than using boiled ones. Between our vacation (DH and I both lost weight) and recent illness I am now at the same weight I was at age 35. Interestingly, I don’t look different but my weight seems to have been completely rearranged or redistributed, if that makes any sense, and my clothes are fitting differently. I bought a belt a few weeks ago in my regular size and I’m buckling it in the smallest hole. 😳 No idea if my body will “settle” at this weight (and no panic if it doesn’t) but I am enjoying having a real waistline again. (Still no hips, but the illusion of them now with a waist!)...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 9/24/2023
Comments (23)Congratulations everyone on keeping with this! SpringRoz wonderful news! I love the fact that something that you can wholeheartedly do works to your advantage. So glad the doctor is seeing that. That'll show them. ;-) Sue have a wonderful time in Denmark. It has been simply years since I have been back and it is a beautiful place to visit with very interesting people. LegoMom I'll be very interested to hear about your journey with the metabolism makeover. Wouldn't that be great if that works. I am very good at being consistent at my three days of exercise funky. I am not very good at adding weights to it. I hope that if I keep trying weightlifting will become as normal as my other exercises Things have been going well enough I am doing my exercises no matter what but I'm feeling a bit stressed since we accidentally got scammed for a few dollars from a website that we put information in and realize afterwards that it wasn't for the tickets for the wine tasting festival. Yes we are kicking ourselves. Can we say locked card and new card.. :-( So stress level high 20 out of 10. Exercise continuing as regularly scheduled. Probably 8.5 out of 10. Eating probably a 4 out of 10. What did the eating in is those albeit healthier chips and cheesies that I ate over that weekend. I haven't weighed myself and I know that eating those is not so good. Anyway feeling healthy enough at least even with the blip in what I ate. Only one migraine over the weekend so that's a really telling sign that I didn't kill myself too much and the stress/weather isn't killing me right now :-)....See MoreFunkyart
