Comments (27)Thank you all for the well wishes. She is doing ok for what she has going on. It's eye opening and yet another reminder to age as well as we can. Hospitals and rehabs are not great places to spend a lot of time. She was dr avoidant and anti meds for most of her life, but that just left her with some health issues she just didn't treat - like a way underactive thyroid and high BP. I think those probably played into her current situation. Luckily, the care this time around has been spread between the hospital and my siblings, so we've got a good schedule going. I have been able to exercise and sleep. Part of my new sleep routine is reading a real book before bed, instead of looking at my phone. Right now I am reading this. It's really interesting in that it has actual assessments and plans for improvements. I honestly think I am in decent shape, but the assessments said otherwise:) I feel like I'm agile, but not in these ways I guess. So, lots of mobility issues to work on. I also really like my new 800 gram challenge. I do better with number goals it seems, so instead of just saying eat more fruits and veggies, this is a concrete goal in addition to the 30 different plan products. I relied a lot on nuts and seeds for that, so this is indeed a challenge for me. I have been eating a lot more fruit, which I didn't really eat because of spikes on my CGM. I will have to see how that works when I wear one again, but for now I'm going with it. I do think the fruit reduces other cravings and not great for me foods. I just make sure to eat it with other fiber and fat to hopefully slow down the effect. @gsciencechick -good work on your A1C - sounds like you are headed in a great direction. @jill302 - maintaining is often harder than losing. Good work!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 9/24/2023
Comments (23)Congratulations everyone on keeping with this! SpringRoz wonderful news! I love the fact that something that you can wholeheartedly do works to your advantage. So glad the doctor is seeing that. That'll show them. ;-) Sue have a wonderful time in Denmark. It has been simply years since I have been back and it is a beautiful place to visit with very interesting people. LegoMom I'll be very interested to hear about your journey with the metabolism makeover. Wouldn't that be great if that works. I am very good at being consistent at my three days of exercise funky. I am not very good at adding weights to it. I hope that if I keep trying weightlifting will become as normal as my other exercises Things have been going well enough I am doing my exercises no matter what but I'm feeling a bit stressed since we accidentally got scammed for a few dollars from a website that we put information in and realize afterwards that it wasn't for the tickets for the wine tasting festival. Yes we are kicking ourselves. Can we say locked card and new card.. :-( So stress level high 20 out of 10. Exercise continuing as regularly scheduled. Probably 8.5 out of 10. Eating probably a 4 out of 10. What did the eating in is those albeit healthier chips and cheesies that I ate over that weekend. I haven't weighed myself and I know that eating those is not so good. Anyway feeling healthy enough at least even with the blip in what I ate. Only one migraine over the weekend so that's a really telling sign that I didn't kill myself too much and the stress/weather isn't killing me right now :-)....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/26/2023
Comments (7)I thought I was doing ok-- steady and mostly healthy diet-- but I have to acknowledge that the pounds I have been "up" the last few times are not normal fluctuations but increased weight. This is the first since I've started losing weight that I have a net increase in weight (vs the normal fluctuations). I am not happy about it but I do know where they've come from ... while maintaining a pretty decent diet otherwise, I have allowed some chips and other savory snacks in. I have also not been making soup as religiously. Soup is really THE easiest way for me to stay on track. This next month will be about keeping a lean diet most days and increasing my walking/exercise so that I can have small indulgences at holiday gatherings and on my trip. I could whine and pout and complain -- but I did this to myself. I know where I was too loose. I need to be more serious. I need to get excited to lose the next 10! Part of my strategy to get excited and focused is getting my hair done -- I know that doesn't make any sense lol but when I am looking good, I tend to work harder on all aspects of my appearance and health. Oh yeah -- and I am going back to weighing daily. Apparently being obsessed with the scale helps keep me accountable! How are you all doing?...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 12/10/2023
Comments (5)I am so sorry you have not been feeling well, Funky. We have had a bug going around, here. DS had it, and then DH lost his voice for a day, with a little cough, but seems to have dodged the full cold, and I (knock on wood) might have dodged it all. I am still full on at Pilates. I LOVE that I can go to the App and pick up a class if there is an opening. I did that yesterday, with a class called Control. It started out like ballet, with plie' and relave', and continued with slow planks and some torturous sideline work on the reformer. Coordination is not my superpower, and I find it difficult to keep the ring between my ankles AND do something else with my hands, LOL. The storm that blew through TN on Saturday was too close, and I had a few drinks (vodka and that fizzy sugar- free drink from Aldi) while my DS and DH streamed one of the YT storm chaser channels. It is bad enough on the ipad!! My town's Bike/Walk group is starting up a walk group around downtown this week, and I may join in on that. They said dogs are welcome, but this doggie C0v1d needs to pass before I am willing to take the dogs out. Strange that C0v1d never bothered me, but I am scared my dogs will get sick!! Here's to a great week!!! (Clink)...See MoreFunkyart
