Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! I can't explain it but I am just really glad to see a loss after 4 months of very slow progress....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 10/29/2023
Comments (12)I’ve been maintaining a good activity level and continuing with my eating plan. I eat little but have plenty of energy, and eat more if I see the need. At this point I am not trying to lose, just maintain and adjust as I add or subtract activities. Today I’m making a cider based pulled pork in the crockpot for sandwiches as SIL and the grands are coming for the weekend to give DD a few days to herself. I will probably take Andrew to see the Paw Patrol movie and I am looking forward to the kids’ pack of a small amt of popcorn, junior drink and fun size Welch’s fruit snacks! Having the kids here automatically means I am weight lifting (switching back and forth between 27 lbs to 18 lbs, lol) I’ll also make cole slaw and a shredded brussel sprouts salad, and give the DH and SIL tortilla chips and salsa as well. I also bought Bluebell peppermint bark ice cream for dessert and will whip up a chocolate ganache for that. Luckily ice cream is not my weakness. My meal plan for myself is for adequate protein, more complex carbs / veg/ fiber and minimal sugar / pasta/ potatoes etc. If I make all those it usually serves everyone well as they eat more of what they like and there’s something appealing for everyone. Autumn has put a new spring in my step and I am anxious to get out and dive into everything. Sunday I have a historical society meeting after church and a concert at 5 (attending, not singing), and next week a landscape painting class and a dinner meeting for the regional Democratic party along with rehearsals two nights for two different choirs. My primary goal is to be as healthy as possible to care for my mother and DH, help out with the grandchildren and stay involved in all the things that interest me. Lately it all seems to have become easier to manage, no idea why 🤔...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/12/2023
Comments (5)Gscience - sorry you fell! Ugh, but it does sound like you are recuperating well! Hope it's a quick recovery from here on. Springroz - amazing Pilates consistency! That must feel fantastic! Funky- I hope you enjoyed your walk. We have been having lovely weather here as well, so I have been forcing myself to go along on the morning dog walks. Always glad I went, it's a good way to start the day. I had a good week mostly. Lots of walks, three good pickleball days, and three full body weight trainings. I have a great setup in my basement now that will allow me to progress through the winter and a goal to be strong to ski in February, so that should keep me motivated and moving forward. I'm still thinking about my bloodwork, nothing was alarming, but I was hopeful for some different numbers. But looking back honestly over the past few months I can see I wasn't really changing much up. So, I do have a couple tweaks I'm going to work on and see where I get. Mostly more fruits and vegetables, more water, more weight lifting, and some targeted supplements. I'm terrible at taking vitamins of any sort, but there is a theme in my bloodwork which might be helped with a couple additions. But, in the big picture, I am grateful for my good health so far in life, grateful for the mental health and mood boost eating well and exercising gives me, and grateful for my body which is getting stronger and allowing me to enjoy the activities I love. Can't let myself get down in the weeds too far :)...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/19/2023
Comments (9)Funky yes being devoted to just getting in shape and losing weight is a losing venture. And it waxes and wanes for all of us right? At least it does for me! Shrug :-). Funky I admire your choices with regards to what to eat for Thanksgiving. I however am very confused by the words I don't eat mac and cheese.. but I understand that you don't think it's a traditional side. We've never had it as a side here but since I've been hearing about it more and more regularly from south of the border I have thought about making it. Shrug. I wish I didn't love cheese so much. It seems like the only thing I can't turn my back on as far as high fat foods goes. Gscience I am so glad you are feeling better. Glad you are able to wear your undergarment again! If I couldn't I might be one of those people who wears four t-shirts and doesn't go out at all. Not very comfortable without some kind of undergarment. Read br*a. I'm kind of forced into a pseudo nutrition based life. But if I didn't have to I tell you I would be eating entirely differently. First thing I would add is licorice :-) yes licorice. But I can't eat it so I make do with things like Bliss balls. They are not licorice they are second best chocolate. Well or coconut and chocolate I am continuing along with the same core exercises. A few times I've had to do it on Saturday instead of Friday but that has turned out just fine. We have been going camping and DH been riding his electric mountain bike deep into the mountains. I stay in the camper mostly and cook meals sew clothes that need a bit of tweaking which I want to wear for dancing. We have a lot of fun doing this. I obviously do my exercises there as well. We missed one week of dancing and boy did I miss it. We are practicing the two-step at home as the places we go are a mix of country and pop and rock for their dance bands. I will rock out at home and often it is music that I know I will hear at the clubs. :-). So I watch a lot of music videos and listen to a great variety. Last night at our dance they played Footloose. A lot of fun and everyone joined in. We are getting back on track with walking the dogs for longer every day and I'm glad that that is happening. DS and I have been struggling with the usual weather change migraines. So frustrating. Shorter more frequent walks are what we can handle when we're sick. I hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful week!...See MoreRelated Professionals
