Any idea where to find a low profile king headboard?
Comments (10)I have a small to medium size window over my bed and also went without a headboard for years. Finally found this style sleigh bed that barely covers the bottom trim on my window. The attached Google search shows some examples. I can't find the exact one that I have, but the footboard is only two or three inches taller than the mattress. Look at the second picture - that is almost like mine. See how there is room for the picture over the headboard - my window is larger than that. I only use blinds. Someday I may try straight panels and pull the bed out a few inches just for some color/texture. You might also look at platform beds if you don't want a footboard. Comments (14)Yes, you can order just the headboard and use a heavy duty bed frame. That's what I did with the Charles P Rogers iron bed in my guest room. I love the look of the footboard but didn't have much space. Brass Beds of Virginia also offers a low footboard for its iron beds. I like that option better than no footboard because I think the interlocking frame makes for a more sturdy bed. If you go to their website and click on a bed you like you might be able to see an illustration of what the low footboard option would look like....See MoreMatching Headboard broke, can't be repaired. Comments (28)Perhaps the most invalid analogy ever: "It's like when a soccer mom with 5 kids goes into a car dealership and the salesman keeps trying to sell her sport's cars when she keeps telling him she wants a mini van". More accurate analogy: It's like when a soccer mom with 5 kids goes into a car dealership and the salesman keeps trying to sell her sport's cars when she keeps telling him she wants a mini van. but she wants it to look like a sports car, get the mileage of a Prius, the longevity of a Volvo, the ten year warranty included..... for the price of a used Chevy compact,. The other difference is she may have the "good grace" to realize it's not possible. Politely stated, the above beds are West Elm and Ethan Allen respectively. I would suggest jumping by kiddies on either is not a great idea, and both will be in the vicinity of a grand. They will not jiggle as they are the entire bed, versus a headboard bolted to a hollywood frame. I would suggest the first, to avoid the "matchy matchy" which is to drown a room in dark brown furniture, in this case a dresser, two side tables and bed, all the same. The warm golden tone far more updated , especially in consideration with green......... I'll politely suggest a hardware change on the brown furniture should that be an issue....See MoreHeadboard designs
Comments (24)Sue Brown, that looks great! I do like the shelf you have, though I'm in an earthquake zone so that's why I'm trying a niche at a lower height instead. Beth H, I like the simple look of your headboard and night tables. Painting the wall black is also a nice idea, though I can't use it as my wall has 2 openings into the walk-in closet behind it. Let me think of how to adapt it. P Banos, I've tried sliding doors in design #2 (the 3 panels with the paintings). Indeed, I've been trying too hard to have storage space inside the headboard (niche + shelves behind sliding doors) rather than in night tables. Perhaps that's a bad idea to start with. Sabrina, any opinion whether I should just do away with the niche? Thanks again, everyone!...See Morepalimpsest
