Need help choosing exterior color for colonial w brick/siding
Comments (5)Hi there, We haven't done it yet, but I still want to. I actually found a neighborhood near here (tipped off by my neighbor who's been thinking of doing this for ten years but has yet to pull the trigger) where there are tons and tons of houses like ours, most painted a single color. They look great. And it's in a very fancy area, which I think explains the greater prevalence of doing this than my specific neighborhood, which is nice but not ritzy (since painting the brick adds a lot of $$). I took pictures of some of these houses, which I'm happy to post. I think it's important though to hire a really really good painter, and to shell out the extra $ for good paint. I've seen some crappy jobs and it's not worth it....See MoreHelp with exterior house and garage colours
Comments (7)Are you replacing your existing roof or just adding on the garage and extending the current roof over the garage. Will the garage be attached to the house? I like your brick and your roof color. The front door should be a different color to draw attention to the front door and away from your future garage door. A wood or wood look garage door would look wonderful on your brick home. If you need to go with a different material, then a color that blends with your siding/brick would be best IMO. If you go with high contrast color for your garage door it draws all the attention to your garage rather than your lovely home. Looking at colors that work for your front door, try one of the accent colors below. I think the goldenrod or basil or meadow would look terrific on your front door. Comments (17)Nice house and yard. Consider choosing a dark bold brown for the fascia/soffit (and, perhaps, around your bold red door) but leave all the window trim white. A lighter brown for the siding you're adding would work well. https://www.pellabranch.com/blog/global-blogs/black-window-frames/ If the additional work to be done is changing out the windows, replace the large ?fixed? window with a pair that open and consider choosing black frames. You could then consider choosing a dark bold brown for window trim as well....See MoreHow to colour coordinate house brick, siding, concrete block exterior
Comments (18)Thank you thank you ALL so much for these amaaaazing comments and support for the colour and landscaping - truly grateful for such a great response. We have considered a back deck - it's one of our upcoming investments we are planning for. And we are getting the entire front yard graded... so we'll be able to properly planted beds - strategically placed to take some attention off the block. We love the drama of the darkest charcoal colour - wow that image attached of the charcoal house is amazing! @housegal200 Thank you @celerygirl for so many colour options - leaning toward the gray shades, on the darker side. We totally plan no shutters. don't plan to paint the brick, and... maybe we will, cause we love to veer when it's a good choice- even if it's last minute. Our plan is to xeroscape overall and have garden beds. Thank you all so much!! we'll check in again in case you have more inspiration to share!! xoxoxoxo...See MoreLyn Nielson
