I could use some help with my bedroom!
I just received my duvet and shams today. Not sure if they are too dark. I was thinking of putting a rug under the bed and so I included a picture of one that I was thinking of. Should I do arches mirrors behind the nightstand? What about lamps or sconces? Should I use a rug? Should I paint an accent wall? As you can tell I’m completely lost in what to do! Thanks in advance for the help!

9 months agoI agree with tracefloyd - you have great taste and a lovely, calming home. I like the dark duvet, but I feel the color needs to be repeated in art above the bed. This example is from Wayfair.

I thought I should pop in here for a quick update (I just hate when people post a question and never update their resolution!). It took almost 2 years but I'm finally at a good place with the bedroom decor. We ended up putting the bed up against the window because of symmetry and it also opened up a big space at the foot of the bed where we can play with our dog. We also ended up with a queen bed instead of a king. We don't mind the bed in front of the window at all. The bed has a wire headframe and barely blocks the light. We just need to hang some pictures or paintings and I think I can call the bedroom done! Comments (8)Check on an appraisers forum to see if there would be any difference in value. Unless you are getting cash for the sale or a large down payment from the buyer the appraisal will be the determining factor if you actually get more at the sale. If you do this change, do it for yourself and not for resale. If you do this change, make sure you don't make the current floorplan dysfunctional as that will take value away. If you are using the exact same square footage and not adding any, then it is doubtful that your home would add value but you would need to get twin sales in the area to see how much, if anything, is added to the value. It may open up the buyer pool and sell more quickly though. 9 months agoOk I bought mirrors and print. The rug was just to see if that colored worked with bedding. I love the idea of painting the back wall. That is my next project. Thanks so much for the compliments. I love this site!

9 months agolast modified: 9 months agoI have a personal preference to have all the walls the same color rather than an accent wall. This example is also from Studio McGee. I’d take your art to the paint store so you have something to hold the samples against. You might be surprised to discover a color you hadn’t considered.

8 months agoWow! You work fast! It is gorgeous! That paint color has transformed this room. This rug from Wayfair has a hint of green. I’m not sure what that backing is. If it’s laytex, it might not be suitable over carpeting.
