Comments (29)Maybe eld . However, these were not coworkers at all. They were truck drivers,either bringing stuff in or picking stuff up. Mr. Kit Kat comes in frequently, and is rather obnoxious anyway, and Reeses boy just started coming in there recently,and had no clue that he was talking to the treat provider/decorator. Again,I don't think I feel ownership over the treats. They are for everybody. I am just amazed at how rude and obnoxious some people can get about something that supposed to be a nice gesture and fun. (How DARE you not make sure that there is more than 1 free Reeses cup!) As for money,I do get contributions. It's usually the same people every year. So far, in my pumpkin pig I've brought in about 30 bucks. I don't get annoyed if people don't contribute and they get a treat or two.I get annoyed when people don't contribute,yet come get enough snacks to live off of. Or I get annoyed at the people who work in that office with me,as i mentioned above. They will nag people to put change in the pig(something I NEVER do. I put the pig by the candy for those that want to put in. I don't ever TELL people to put money in it. ),yet I get nothing from them,and they eat more than anyone. It's a year round thing though really. The obnoxious entitlement that is.We provide them with free coffee. As a courtesy. They often complain that we only have regular and hazelnut coffeemate,not this or that flavor. They actually think it is a job requirement for us to drop whatever are doing if the coffee pot is empty and make it for them. Someone actually yelled at me that they would have me fired for not "doing my job" and get off the phone with a customer that second and make him some free coffee. Yeah. Good luck with that. You can't be nice to some people. They become rather entitled. I don't get it. But, I refuse to let the few doofuses dampen my Halloween happiness,especially as I got my Charlie Brown working,and that made my whole month. I can feel it. Comments (17)My first Fitbit was a Fitbit Zip (which is worn clipped to your waistband, or bra). Set my stride length on it, and it seemed to do ok for the most part, but there were times when I know it was way off. And, after a while I wanted to be able to track my heart rate, too, so Hubs bought me a Fitbit Alta HR. That thing also tracks your sleep, and it is notoriously bad at it. If your wrist doesn't move for a certain length of time (I'm not sure how long, though), it decides you're asleep. So, if you're sitting quietly reading a book, for example, it will log the time as sleep time. My Alta HR is also horrible at tracking steps. After getting a cardiac stent last year, I went through cardiac rehab, and during each session I used a NuStep (recumbent cross trainer). I liked it so much that I bought one (you can only buy them directly from the company). I also got a chest strap heart monitor, because a chest strap monitor is very accurate (and, my heart rate from it shows on the console display of the NuStep, so I don't have to worry about looking at my wrist, or holding onto anything to measure my heart rate). The machine display shows the number of steps and the distance. At the end of each session, I take pictures of the display so I have a daily record because the NuStep app shows a monthly & lifetime total. There's a daily graph for intensity, heart rate, and pace (steps per minute), but you don't get the exact numbers from the graph. My Fitbit Alta HR has never, ever, matched what the machine shows for steps or distance. A prime example: the NuStep showed I had done 8,304 steps. My Alta HR showed I had done 7,046 steps. That's not an insignificant difference. And the 8,304 step count was accurate....See MoreFloof! Odd sources of nostalgia....

I smiled not only at Marilyn's photo above, but hallingarden's comment made me think about how there was a time on here a while back Marilyn posted a photo of herself saying something to effect that it was taken a couple years back, she may have been at a laundromat of all places (not sure if I remembered that correct or not), but I said, Wow! When I grow up, I want to look like Marilyn. Very pretty lady. My condolences to Marilyn. Hugs. Back on track, and thanks to Lars for the memory trigger regarding olfactory; when I smell guava or day old white bread or leftover spaghetti, it brings right back to my beloved nursery school. Comments (8)I liked Christmas as a child, but once I became an adult, it was more stressful than anything else, and my mother took it too seriously. She felt compelled to have everyone together for Christmas, and this became more difficult when the family got larger and had other places to go. I left home at 18, and so after that, I returned as a guest. I have no holiday traditions of my own, although I used to celebrate the summer solstice when I lived in Venice, as that was a good time to have a party there. When I did visit my parents for Christmas and/or Thanksgiving, I would do much of the cooking, partly because my mother did not like to do it and partly because I was better at it, and my nieces especially appreciated it. I found exchanging gifts to be more stressful than enjoyable, and so I did not like that as an adult. We sometimes played board games, and I did enjoy that. As a child, we alternated having Christmas at my parents' house and at my maternal grandparents' house. My mother was an only child, and so her parents were always with us at holidays. My father had two older brothers and an older sister, and we never celebrated any holidays with them. His sister had moved to New Mexico, and we almost never saw her at all. His two brothers had married two sisters, and so they were very close to each other but not to us. Since their children were double first cousins, they were much like one family (and closer to each other in ages). My father's family was not big on Christmas, partly because his sister had converted to Jehovah's Witness (because of her husband), and she had converted my grandmother. I believe that JWs do not celebrate Christmas, as I remember, but my grandmother was not the typical JW. In fact, being inventive (with a couple of patents under her belt), she had created her own version of the religion, probably from her imagination, which was far from conventional. No one knew where she got her ideas, but she did enjoy going out and witnessing. However, when the other JWs found out what she was telling others, they tried to get her to stop witnessing, but to no avail. I was told not to listen to my grandmother because she was "off her rocker," but I found her stories entertaining and imaginative. My grandmother owned the waterworks in town because my grandfather (who died before I was born) and his father had dug a bunch of artesian wells, and so the people in town pretty much had to put up with her, even though they thought she was a bit crazy. She never forced people to pay their water bills, and so my father had to do that for her. She thought water should be free. Anyway, my father's side of the family did not celebrate Christmas in a conventional way....See More
