I’m an Apple user. Googled “Android phone text box too small” and found the above link.

Miy bod doesn't expand but I can scroll up to see the beginning. I too have an android.

What's weird is, it just started this morning! How weird is that...right?! bbstx, that does seem to be the same issue that I have. Why did it just start doing this though? Had to have been some update I guess? OH and another thing I just noticed is that it's autocorrecting everything today. :O

edit, I just turned off autocorrect which somehow had turned itself on.

Did it fix your problem? I can't type right on my phone. So I just correct mistakes after the fact. My kids are okay with it because they do the same. My friends I try and use my laptop to message them especially if it's a long message. Easier to type and correct mistakes.

Turning off autocorrect fixed the autocorrect issue that was also having this morning. Doesn't address the non-expanding box for text messages. :(

Have you restarted your phone lately?

I have restarted it 3 times! :O

Have you adjusted your text size?

Have you tried calling customer support? Is there customer support for Androids?

I’ll behave, but my smart-aleck response to ”how to fix my Android” is usually ”buy an Apple product.” Apple has excellent customer support.

My phone was doing some stuff that I didn't like and my 30-something kids couldn't fix it but my 16 year old nephew could fix it. I have a bunch of great nephews/nieces coming up and they are my future tech-gurus.

In my experience, Apple beats AT&T hands down. Plus they are much quicker to respond.

Elmer, do you mean the answer is to install a new app? That was their only solition. Doesn't explain why it suddenly stopped working today though 😕

You mentioned you've restarted your phone 3 times. I read on a tech site that it's better to "shut down" than "restart" as the "shut down" does a more complete job. Have absolutely no idea if that will solve your problem but it might be worth a try.

Yes, ag. Try doing the same thing a different way (a different SMS app). If that provides the behavior you prefer, you win!

Too often (I'm not at all referring to you), beginner level people insist that a problem or something undesirable needs to be resolved only in one specific way. "I'm not going to use a different browser", or "I'm not going to set it to clear history, then I'd have to sign in every time", or whatever. Users should always keep their eyes on the prize - if a particular behavior or outcome is preferred, it doesn't matter how it is achieved.

bbstx, you are probably right about Apple! :) I don't think us Android users have any customer help. I can usually find a fix with google searching but for some reason, with this issue, I'm hitting a brick wall. Maybe since it just happened today, it's too soon. I really think it has to do with some update because I also had that autocorrect issue this morning. Thank goodness that was easy to fix because it was changing the spelling of words that I am likely to use.

Yes, that looks about right as far as the results but it didn't fix the issue. There was one thing that said to change the "keyboard size", that didn't make any difference. Funny thing though, I was asking my sister if she'd ever had this happen and she said "No" and she asked her husband if he had and he said "no" but then later she told me that hers is now doing the same thing! ACK!

It almost seems as if I was getting the expanding text window while others were not. Searching through google searches some more shows this has been an issue for a long time. I can tell you with 100% certainty that mine was expanding until just today! :P
