More Wedding Questions.......
Comments (94)Update: they've decided against the resort for lots of reasons, some logistic, some esthetic, mostly they just couldn't "see" a wedding there in their respective mind's eyes. That last is probably the most important qualification or lack thereof.....I think DD was looking for a place that would make her say yes, this is a place I would really like to have a wedding, and that would make her want to have one We have backed out of the planning/ viewing / discussion process. We told the couple we would give them X amount of money to do with as they wish and have offered an engagement party here at home in the spring, probably May. I think they will likely just elope in early December. Last night some of our city friends hosted a dinner party in honor of their engagement. It was lovely amd DD and DF enjoyed themselves very much but have strongly discouraged or simply refused all other offers of parties, luncheons or showers. Much to my mother's disappointment!...See MoreAnother wedding question(s)
Comments (54)Ah, weddings. My son is getting married in June and they've planned it as a late afternoon ceremony on the beach next to a lighthouse on the Eastern Shore, followed by a reception in a maritime museum on the same property. It's very appropriate for the couple; she is a Coast Guard academy grad who recently left the military for a job at a major cruise line and he is a federal law enforcement agent at a maritime national park. Her family is local to the MD area although the couple lives here in SoFla. Hopefully the weather will cooperate but if not she's going to move everyone into the assembly space. Very fond of my future DIL but it's an interesting experience being the grooms' parents; we've not been consulted or informed much about plans other than told if we ask. No wedding attendants, and evidently no desire for any variant of rehearsal dinner--I offered to host extended family for a nice private dinner or even do a cocktail reception the night before the wedding for all the guests but the kids haven't taken me up on it so I"m following the MIL 3-S mantra: show up, sit down and shut up :). I keep telling my (only) daughter that she better let me organize a big fat wedding someday LOL. And ardent feminist that she is, she keeps telling me not to count on it!...See MoreHey Ya'll Wedding Guest Dress Opinions
Comments (53)Thanks for finding the butterfly dress Cindy! Funky, maybe you saw the dress from Anthro? It’s kind of similar? Yeah, I’m kind of thinking I need to wait to pull the trigger until I see some new spring dresses. Amy, that mod cloth dress is so pretty, but a little too short for my liking. Bonnie, I think that dress is a little different? And I’m not sure about a dress that’s only $22! I can’t imagine that it’s made with even a little bit of quality. Oh Lake, I totally forgot about Peruvian Conn. Love the dress with the bold stripes. I’m putting that one in my maybe file. Thanks Mtn! The house is doing well. It’s a semi-custom and we moved in about 10 months ago - how time flies! We’re really pleased with it and the house/property are much smaller and more manageable with time and money. Plus, I’ve gone back to school which, so far, is and absolute blast. Wish I had done this long ago! Just, no doesn’t have to be floral. Those dresses are much too short. I’m really going for midi to maxi. I’m 5’7” so maxi dresses look pretty good on me and I’m not interested in showing too much leg. Sue, yes maybe too casual and too short. Jill, that’s kind of what I want - something that’s a hint of dressy but can be worn casually as well. dyh - UO is tough! Very young and very skinny girl dresses! I wish! I don’t know how I missed the Anthro dresses. The beaded wrap and the butterfly are perfect! I think the tulips are just too big of a print and too busy for anything but a waif. Love Free People but nothing is speaking to me....See MoreAnother Wedding Dress Q: Can i make this work?
Comments (81)Thanks, Nini! I like it too.. it just makes me happy. Sorry, Mtn! Missed your recommendation for the blue. I do like them-- but here's the thing, it's not a color i wear much so I won't get much use of them outside the wedding. Also, discovered i wear a 10.5 in the Miller sandal... oops. Ruby, I love the metallic but i think it would need to be silver.. the problem is, I already have dark gray patent leather. I shouldn't get two colors so similar but wow. I think I really like the silver. WDYT?? I think i am down to nude, ivory/white or silver....See More1929Spanish-GW
