Sheer Curtain Panel Decision for Master Bedroom
Comments (28)Thank you msjay2u for the link to the vent extender and deflector which I know will be helpful in some rooms. I think as long as I do not put heavy curtains on my two windows in my bedroom and I treat them separately, I will not have the worry I thought since I will not need the 4.75" clearance I thought I did and 2.75" will just work. If I find that I need 3" and the sheers are too close to the vents, I love the deflector idea so the sheers will not be touching the metal heating vents. I guess no one knows what is best for my door since I have the links above. This post has helped me greatly since now I do not have to find a curtain rod a little bigger than 120" long and if I ever sell my home, I really did not want to block the balcony door but I could not see it any other way until all of you opened my eyes and I know one of the treatments will work. I still would like to open and close my sheers so I am thinking that 3/8th white rod with the cute pineapples on the end may be nice or the clear ones but the I am not sure if I will be able to open and close the sheers or lace. Does anyone on this list have the Shari or the Emma Lace and/or anyone can tell me which they like better since the Shari sheers I would have to order online and their white says "cool white" while the Emma Lace panels says only "white". I also still like the crinkled sheers in a less bright white but I am waiting to see if there are any other people who read this post who would like to vote. I got so much done today and that has made me realize to take my time and I will love whatever I do to my windows. Thank you. P.S. Did you see my link above to what my heating vents/registers look like? You seemed to have gotten it right with the deflectors....See Moreold house - need ideas for tricky front hall/stairway
Comments (21)I was about to suggest radiator covers and then teacats beat me to it! I would do a radiator cover and then mount a shelf and appropriate sized mirror over that. I am going to be the naysayer about hooks on that wall at the bottom of the stair. You don't have a ton of space there, and that means that the bottom of the stair will look even smaller and more crowded when you have a bunch of coats hanging on the pegs or hooks. I would use that wall for the 14 pix that you discussed. Use the upstairs wall to do the family geneology items. By the way, I don't think the window at the top of the stairs looks high at all. It is in proportion to the upper floor. Once you hang artwork on the wall to the right of that window, it will connect with the window and make it all work together. The topiary you have there only accentuates the height of the window, as it is still taller than the top of the topiary. If you want something there, I would look for a small arts and crafts style plant stand and put a large vase or a plant with trailing ends like an ivy on the stand. Or you could stand a large vase in the corner with tall twigs and grasses coming out of it. Your home is fabulous - I am SOOOO jealous. It feels like a place that I could just walk in and be at home....See MoreChandelier worth the cost?
Comments (35)I would think an overhead light of some kind would be necessary and I think a really striking overhead light adds to the gestalt of the photo. So while someone isn't actively focusing on gee I will rent that place because of the chandelier, I do think that it will make it come together. I am just finishing a remodel of my home with the help of a designer and it is absolutely true that it is these kinds of "touches" that pull the room together which a talented designer brings to the party. Ironically my bedroom chandelier was just installed and when my friend came over who has seen my remodel in various stages, she remarked how the chandelier pulled together all the other design elements. I do agree that a cream fabric headboard might not be ideal but perhaps something in a material that is more cleanable like leather might still give the look but lower maintenance. I do think that sconces are a great addition and I would add that remote controlled shades as well might be a selling point. If possible you might install smart bulbs in the sconces and then have your "smart home" Wifi system used as part of the promotional material. When I am in bed, it's nice to be able to control the lights without having to get up and then down again....See MorePlease Help Me Decide Best Family Room Layout & Sectional
Comments (6)Here are the mock-ups that I created. Links are to the different sectionals, but not the specific configuration. The recliner on the right is our existing one. The coffee and end tables are just suggestions, but haven't been decided on. The rectangle on the wall across from the fireplace is the secretary desk that I already have. ETA - the layouts in A and B are similar, except the end on the short side is armless in B and the long side in B is longer by almost a foot. A. Room & Board York Sectional R&B York Sectional B.
