Advice needed regarding sectional sofa dilemma
Comments (5)That is the only living space in the house. It's a townhouse we're renting for a year or two. We sacrificed on space to be close to the beach, which has been an awesome choice, until Irma, of course. We don't have any other "real" furniture for the living area, and we wanted to avoid purchasing anything until we bought a home, but when the old sofa had to go, we had to replace that. So we don't have any other seating, but it's really not a big deal. We don't have kids or family in the area, and we don't have a bunch of people over at one time, so the sectional is enough for our current needs. Is there anything in particular you would suggest for ottomans? I would like something that fits physically with the sofa to get something close to a chaise feel without having to close off the space permanently as you would with a chaise. Finding the right size is important too, as I dislike the really big ottomans for sectionals; they take up way too much space and prevent the use of a coffee table....See MoreSectional TOO small for family room???
Comments (36)Don't regret buying the sectional. It's small scale will work fine in the room. If you have small kids watching tv or reading with you snuggled in the corner is nice cozy family time. When you bring things into a room that you love, you will love and enjoy using the room. Give it a chance. Live with any furniture arrangement for a week or 2 before changing it again. Even if it feels strange taking furniture away from the walls rooms just seem more comfortable and pulled together. Look at houzz pictures and save every one you like. you'll eventually see common colors and arrangements If you really like a picture use it as a blueprint on getting your room together. You don't have to copy it exactly just copy the feel....See MoreLayout for remodeled 'great' room: sectional or sofas?
Comments (8)Shamelessly re-upping my own post! I need to order something this week, when my workload is light and hopefully when I still have a chance of getting something delivered by the time that the construction is done in the spring. I've been reading the archives and playing with layouts. I went to Room and Board yesterday and fell in love with everything there, but still can't decide. Is there another option I haven't thought of? Please help! Option one: 2 8ft couches (and two round swivel chairs) OPTION TWO: A big sectional (8.5ft x 14ft), maybe space for two small chairs or ottomans...See MoreHelp! Sectional or Two Sofas in Open / Odd Family Room
Comments (16)I agree that furniture needs to move closer to the fireplace/TV. I guess the problem I’m Having is the French doors. They are not being removed, they are staying where they are. So, considering sizes of loveseats and even sectionals. I will be blocking those doors. what is the rule about blocking the French doors? We do use them sometimes. The living room is on the other side and then it gets a lot of use these days with everyone being home....See Moreriellebee
