What are the specifications for "horticultural sand"? I have it specified in size as #10 Mesh, roughly between 2 mm and 1.6 mm (1/16") in size. Is it correct that it does not matter whether it is silica (quartz) or granite?

Does anyone have a supplier for a washed horticultural sand that can be purchased by the ton in a supersack, anywhere in Northern California?
