Induction- do you use your 5th burner
Comments (13)I have a diva 36", 5 burner. I have never used 5 burners, usually 2 or 3. However, the configuration, with the 5th burner in the middle, allows me to use 2 large fry pans at once without crowding. I think the 30" would feel too tight. The cooktop can be used for extra counter top in the event you are only using 2 burners. Often I have all the chopped veggies, etc set up on the cutting board right on the cooktop. I don't cut or chop on the cooktop, just use the space if and when I want. So check out how the burners lay out with your most often used pans. You probably won't need the extra burner, but may want the extra space....See MoreInduction cooktops -- can you use more than one large pot?
Comments (28)Maybe its just electrolux but I would never purchase an induction cooktop again. Who ever heard of a maximum pan size? Add that to not being able to cook on high on the two largest burners (8.5" oh boy) at the same time and you are very limited. I learned the hard way when using my large (10") dutch oven for stew and then boiled noodles. POP went the cooktop. The first thing the repairman said is "were you using a big pan?" I cook a lot. I have a 13" saute, the usual collection of LeCruset, Clam steamer and stock pots. Not to mention how are you expected to take your roast pan and deglaze it? Just cooking for a family of four is a real challenge on this. I was going to just eat the $1700 and get a gas cooktop but the minimum cutout for this unit in the granite is just a hair larger than the maximum allowed for a gas range. I'm stuck with this. I was able to crank out more food with my $275 four burner electric coil. Too many shills posting rave reviews without telling people what the limitations are. The 30" cooktop with 8" elements is only great when its dinner for 2. Just get gas and you don't have to deal with this nonsense....See MoreInduction cooktops; do you love yours....
Comments (13)I've had mine for over 2 years now and am delighted with it....I love how it can hold a cream soup warm without simmering, I have melted chocolate without a double boilder, and I love how I can boil water so quickly. Only problem I have is not getting distracted when I start the rice...it boils so quickly I usually end up with a boil over before I catch it....but the good news is it turns down immediately just like gas so it's not a huge issue. Love the cleanability and how I can use the surface for other things even when I'm cooking...like keeping the dipping bowl near the fry pan when making french toast. About the only thing it won't do is things you need an actual flame for like charring peppers....but I can manage without that....See MoreAnything you don't like about your induction range/cooktop?
Comments (29)Also have the GE Profile slide in and am very happy with it. At first I thought pressing of the buttons for temp control would be a pain, but I'm used to it now and with a nice smooth surface on the control panel cleanup is such a breeze. The oven is great too. I don't regret it. I personally like the look of those nice gas ranges with the big grates on them . I think they "look" great. But I was just at a neighbors house who owns one. It was dirty and I was reminded of how nice it is to have such ease clean up. I don't envy having to remove and scrub all those grates on a regular basis. I do wish I could slide it in a bit more. it does not sit flush with the cabinets even though it's back as far as it can be. Wasn't expecting that. I think if space allowed I'd want a 36" cooktop just to have a bit more roomy cooking surface, but honestly I can only think of a couple times that I've had to juggle things to make them fit. On a daily basis I use the front two burners 99% of the time w/o any issues....See Moreorangecamera
