New apartment living room layout suggestions

I’m struggling to figure out what furniture to purchase for my living room at my new apartment. I want to highlight the window and potentially have a cozy place to read and watch TV. I’d also love to have a place for a desk if possible so I can work from somewhere other than the kitchen table (I do zoom calls often so a plain wall background would be ideal). See attached photos of the room (lol sorry I couldn’t find a photo without my mom and dog in the middle)

I would go with sofa, facing focal point with TV wall or window and couple of chairs. And if you can create some nook with wall opposite TV wall with chair.

Their current lay out block traffic flow. I would much rather go with a love seat and a few comfy chairs. How many in your family. That is how many seats you need. The rest is over kill and does anyone actually FILL a huge sectional or do three people use it? I am just not a fan. As for the TV placement, most want a visual of both the fireplace and the TV so your plan seems to be a decent option. The built in would be worth looking at...It is ironic how often the MOSTLY unused fireplaces everyone desires really messes with furniture arranging. Your new floors are to die for. This gray fad confuses me. Gray is cold,like stainless. Your kitchen and flooring are so warm and rich looking. Half your new space is painted warm the other cool... Which colors will you embrace?

I’d put my dining room in that space and turn your old dining room into an office and add some glass doors to your new office (old dining room). That way you can set up a dedicated space for your homeschooling. You don’t need two living rooms back to back. Put your piano against the stair wall where the guitars currently are. Put your dining room hutch on the 13’4” wall and hang the guitars on the other wall space (opposite the front windows). Hang your guitars so they are like artwork....big one in the middle and smaller ones on either side. Paint the chair rail white and all the wall space below the same white as well. This will help to blend your heaters. Paint above the chair rail a warm grey colour. Benjamin Moore Collingwood is one example and a google search will come up with other popular colors. Thanks everyone... @Olychick, I was concern the TV would get nothing but glare from the windows with that configuration. The windows are on the west side and receive all the afternoon and evening light., which I like and use.. @decoenthusiate, I agree if I can manage to get a sectional and possibly updated chairs I may be able to use them as the focal point. Or the area rug first and built off it. Budget is around $1000 which is doable utilizing second hand market.... Once I work out the details; the style of pieces and color.... Have you looked at Article? do you like this combo? I just recently got the black leather Sven sofa and that exact chair for my room. I love them! I also got the Sven leather bench/coffee table. prices are very reasonable. Then find the accessories. bring in some art or a rug w/color. I really loved the sven in the blue. this would look great w/your floor and cream wall color. (it is cream, right, and not the yellow in the picture?) As for windows, embrace them with nice curtain panels (2 or 4) from the ceiling to the wall.
