Laundry Room Design Dilemma Home Decorating

WALL TILE IN LAUNDRY ROOM

Hi everyone,
We recently updated our laundry room. It's small (100"x75") and our selections for floor tile and new cabinets were simple black and white. Now we are wondering what to do with the wall behind the sink, washer, and dryer. If we tile, where should we stop? Should we make a line with the underside of the cabinets? Should we go to the top of the upper cabinets, or do we tile the whole wall up to the ceiling?
Wall paper is not an option because we want a wet proof backsplash.

Tile up to the bottom of your upper cupboard and down to the counters.

Because the the laundry room is usually fairly small and enclosed, it's an opportunity for the colour and exuberance that is often avoided in more public areas of the home. The décor should help make your laundry experience more pleasant. Right now, I don't think it does.

Choose a tile that you like. Then choose a paint colour for the walls that goes with that tile and makes you happy. Add some art.

When I did my 12x7 laundry room, I painted it lime green. Bright? Absolutely! But it makes me smile every time I go in there. Lime green definitely isn't for everyone. But maybe a soft blue or a cheerful yellow?

You don't know how happy I am to have seen your post today! I know I saw this tile before on another post some time ago. Now that my kitchen project is coming along, I started thinking about flooring my laundry room. I remember those circles, and just like boxerpups, they too make me happy. rococogurl thought of that but master bedroom next to laundry room has hickory flooring with rest of house being oak. For me it would be too many wood choices too close together. If that makes sense? The porcelain wood is pretty amazing though.

As you say, a lighter color on the wall will make your stained wooden shelves stand out nicely, too. Maybe the middle, richer colored stain? And, again...if it is too light, go darker. Do it in stages! Good luck! Happy that things are falling into place. Photos!!!

We put brown paper where the washer and dryer are going. My husband is going to build pedestals for them to sit on which will make the tops of them be about 50” up from floor. Any ideas on the pedestal and can shelves go above the units and beside them? The empty space shown on left will be 18” wide. Does it matter if units are white or gray?
