Also how are joining rooms decorated…your style. Will fan and paint color remain. Have you seen any inspiration pictures you are drawn to, so as to provide more info for suggestions.

How many people will be eating at the table on a regular basis? Are you removing the other window coverings because I think they look nice and relate well to the living room. One suggestion would be to have bench seating under your crosses (please keep them) with a narrow long rectangular table and 2 to 3 chairs across from the bench. It would tuck it closer to the wall so you have walking space. You could then put china cabinets or bookcases on either side of the door. Another suggestion would be to set up a table that goes from a console to a table to sit 8-10 peopls. You could set it up as a desk for everyday. It's a hard room because of the doorways.

Nellie, three people on a regular basis. I’m leaving the sheer window coverings but will be changing drapes, these don’t match . Bench seating would be nice! I’m keeping the crosses, each one was given to me by someone when our eldest son died. They have a special meaning, each one. But I like the bench idea! I’m thinking same about a bookcase too. I have a lot of books! Yes, this is a small area to furnish. House built in 1949. All original hardwood flooring.

What a special tribute to your son! Your house is really nice. I could see two white bookcases on either side of the door with a whtie board joining the two at the top over the door. Easy to do with IKEA bookcases and a white shelf from a hardware store. You could even get doors for the bottom half of the bookcases if you want some closed storage. Then either a small round glass table as Lyn Nielson suggested or a narrow rectangular table would work. I personally like tables that expand for their versatility.

Now, I know what is going to fit . I really want to create a warm, cozy, comfort home. Leaving our last place was extremely hard, our son lived there but I feel he led us to this new home. It’s bright, lots of windows, and the morning sun shines in my room each morning. It’s coming together I am thankful for your time and ideas!

Can you open up that wall to the kitchen? It would give a bit more breathing room.

Keep the crosses but display them differently. I'd put them on the walls that connect to the kitchen(yes - open this wall up a bit if you can). There should be enough room to display the crosses, even if you open up the wall a bit.

I agree about the wall. That doorway seems odd, we could have more room for sure. I’m going to add some color with a couple plants like a ficus but fake plant . Lol i don’t have a green thumb. I’ll see what crosses look like on other wall by doorway. Definitely need like a bookcase or shelf . Thank you so much everyone!!!

This is other side of that doorway from dining area. That long table and chairs are temporary until I find what will work best. Those pics on floor are all just placed out of boxes. But that’s back door it’s a small walkway
