Kitchen Paint, How would you handle this situation?
Comments (25)Well, I'm a big fan of green kitchens (I like that vintage pea green color that my mother shudders and calls "hospital green"). But on my monitor, it doesn't look very green. It looks more yellow/gold, with a greenish tinge to it. So I see what you mean. I do like the color, but I disagree with your painter's opinion that it was a great choice for the cabinets. (Except that I never saw it in real life, as he did.) Do make sure it is the right color. That said, I think you should move on to other things. It is fresh paint! That is a good thing. I agree that something dramatic above the windows or on the walls would be great. Your buyer will probably repaint everything! In our previous house, we frantically repainted lots of rooms before selling. Neutral colors. The new owners immediately hired painters b/c our colors were too boring (except they kept the pea green kitchen)! But here is the one that got my goat: Our bedroom was painted in a very pale shade of pink. The furniture was dark brown antique. The bedding and sheers were plain white. The main artwork was Chagall (with some pinks in it). Anyone who has passed through Restoration Hardware lately has seen the coupling of pink and brown. It can look very elegant. I loved it! Well, we moved out, and the realtor/stager moved in. She totally "pinked up" our room--floral bedding and pillows, lacy curtains and matching shower curtain, etc. etc. etc. It looked like a pink explosion!! When I asked her if the buyers liked all the paint colors we had chosen, she specifically said, "I think they'll change the bedroom first--it was a little too pink for them." Ok, I'm babbling. It is fine! It is clean and fresh. Move on to the next thing! :-) Francy...See MoreFree Table/Venetian Hotel in Vegas. What style Chairs?
Comments (6)Well, I'm still searching. With our living situation I can't spend much and so far the simpler chairs, the classier, or should I say "classic" chairs like the one posted by Suero in the post above.....I might as well turn over my first-born son as partial payment. *where is the EEK icon when ya need one?* So I went back to my original idea.....simple wood chairs with a bit of iron decor/accent on the back. I have found several, under $150 each....I need four chairs. Of course the chairs I love on CraigsList, I emailed the owner and they won't sell the chairs individually or without the table. *sigh* But again, I'm second-guessing myself *so what else is new?*. I want the table to be the focus, not too much ornamentation on the chairs. I pulled all the packed boxes off the table and got it out of the sunroom and into the dining room. Please excuse all the dust! I unrolled the area rug that was stored with the table and the dust and furballs that flew out.....amazing what collects while something is stored in a corner, isn't it? The front bathroom is on the other side of that wall and we had a biggy flood so the baseboards and touch-up painting will have to be completed. I blurred the mirror on the wall, the mirror in the little curio cabinet and the round glass piece on the table because my reflection was in all three! One reflection of me is bad enough but three? ...again, where's that EEK icon? So, my question I'd like opinions for, before I have raw fingers from searching the web: how much ornamentation/iron/metal decor on the back of the wood chairs is too much? Here's the table.....the copper leaf around the apron of the table and the little feet of the table is showing much brighter with the flash of the camera. Here are some chairs I found that I can actually afford but not sure how much accent is too much, KWIM? Thank you for any and all opinions! This first 4-pic set is the set the seller won't break up/sell individually....See MoreWhat chairs would go best with a table I bought?
Comments (21)anna, couldn't find a source for that one. but similar ones: Uttermost Marlow-Bellacor Lucide integrated LED-AMazon ET Hoopla, Lampsplus this one is different. Alluria you could do two of these large pendants at each end of the table https://www.lampsplus.com/products/chandeliers/style_contemporary/color_black/usage_dining-@-living-room/page_3/ the mini blinds don't really fit w/the modern vibe. try something like these smart motorized blinds (cellulars maybe) and Luxaflex-pirouette blinds. these are Hunter-Douglas and come in a slew of colors. or some black woven woods https://www.blinds.com/pla/blindscom-woven-wood-shade/501858 BTW,,blinds.com is having a big sale right now. I've order 10 items from them. they have excellent customer service....See Morewhat dining table and chairs would look best in this small space? d
Comments (15)How many people will be eating at the table on a regular basis? Are you removing the other window coverings because I think they look nice and relate well to the living room. One suggestion would be to have bench seating under your crosses (please keep them) with a narrow long rectangular table and 2 to 3 chairs across from the bench. It would tuck it closer to the wall so you have walking space. You could then put china cabinets or bookcases on either side of the door. Another suggestion would be to set up a table that goes from a console to a table to sit 8-10 peopls. You could set it up as a desk for everyday. It's a hard room because of the doorways....See Morenjmomma
