penny round tile
Comments (2)If you are doing a large area in them picture yourself setting a solid 12x12 tile level in a bed of peanut butter, fairly easy, press on the entire thing down then put a little more pressure on the high corner or side to set it down. With a sheet of penny tile it is not quite that simple and you have to take more care to get them level. Not at all impossible, just harder. Not sure if they have the slip resistance to make them suitable for floors so check with the seller or check the spec sheet from the manufacturer. Grout space is the biggest issue most people will have with penny tile. There tends to be a bit more grout area. People tend to like to minimize grout because it can mold and attract dirt so keep that in mind for the location of your penny tile....See MoreSeams on penny rounds?
Comments (31)enduring yes the same tiler did the work but used a laser guide, running bond pattern and a lot more care and attention. We agreed to pay for the replacement tile and my GC/tiler did the demo and retiling without incremental labor charges. The architect was very helpful in mediating the conversation. thanks itltrot it turned out okay once we agreed on who was paying for what and understood that the schedule would be impacted....See Moreare penny tiles to slippery on the shower floor?
Comments (11)Some sanded grout is rough, and some not so much . We use Laticrete Permacolor or Laticrete Select as it is much stronger and a very smooth grout joint. All grout is not created equal. As for penny tiles for shower floor, most mosaics, like penny tiles, do create the friction that you need for a non-slip surface. Very acceptable selection for a shower floor in that regard. Please do be sure that the installer knows how to install these sheets of tiles without an obvious grid line as they generally come on sheets and you do not want to see the separation between the sheets. Here's a couple penny round floors we have installed. The "blue guest bath" used the penny rounds on the ceiling and niche as well, although we used white on floor but pulled a few of the blue penny tiles from the ceiling blend to break it up and add interest....See MorePenny tiles on bathroom floor
Comments (6)It depends. Mosaic floors revert back to historical surfaces. It has so much more life than the newer trendy large format porcelain. Much less slippery (whoever mentioned that) than larger formats. There is more grout. Not a huge issue in the history of tile, but in today's "easy, disposable, whatever," only you can decide that. Most important is a quality installer that has experience with those penny tile mosaics as thy come on sheets and must be set with skill so as the sheet lines are not evident (several methods to achieve this). Set correctly, not uncomfortable at all. In fact, might even be a therapeutic result for the feet. AND safer, And more timeless selection....See Moreemily9972
