Peace lily drooping for about a year
Comments (1)I have several pots of peace lily and in my climate, the plant seems to thrive without any care. I maintain my plants by picking off the outer-most leaves, which if I don't would "droop horizontally". You said that "some leaves are horizontal"... so I suppose these are the outer-most leaves. If that is the case, I'd take them off so the whole plant doesn't look "drooping". Here's a photo of my peace lily. Xuan (from Vietnam)...See MoreDrooping peace lilies /:
Comments (2)Perhaps you mean spathiphyllum? That is a houseplant, not an actual lily, which is a bulb. I have 3, and they are very very picky about too much or too little water, wilting at the drop of a hat. But they recover quickly. Ask on the hosueplant forum for more inforamtion, as mine have never had bugs (knock on wood)...See MoreDrooping Monstera and Peace Lily
Comments (4)I agree with Chloe - post the pictures directly in your post is more efficient than inserting links to pictures one by one. That said, both plants look healthy to me. Peace lilies are thirsty and will spring back even when they are in severe wilt after being watered thoroughly. Let the soil dry out some between watering though and you should be good. Both plants are tough as nails. One of my peace lilies May 20 when I took it outside for the summer. Added soil, removed the old brown and yellowing leaves and gave it a much needed drink before putting it out under the trees for summer. Same plant September 19. I will be moving it back indoors for the winter later this month and repeat the process year after year after year. I've had this since 92 or 97 as a gift plant from either my grandmother's or my brother's funeral. The other peace lily is a smaller variety and just as hardy as the first one. Again, tough as nails. My one and only monstera top broke off last year bringing it back inside for winter. The top has lived in a trug since last November with either flooding (rain) or completely dry as I drain off excess water to prevent mosquitoes. This is the top that has lived in this container for nearly a year. The water in there is from Hurricane Sally when the remnants passed through our area a day earlier. August 12 after draining the previous water. There is an philodendron in there as well. Tough as nails....See Morepeace lily went drooping
Comments (9)The pot has a drain hole? If your plant remains in a wilted state even though you can easily detect moisture in the grow medium, the odds highly favor the fact there is too much water in the medium and not enough air. Too much water = insufficient oxygen supply = impaired root function = the plant's/root's inability to keep the plant's internal water pressure high enough to maintain turgidity = wilting. Check the state of the foliage in terms of how bad the wilting is during the day, then compare again to what it looks like before you retire for the evening. If it's perked up a bit, it's definitely from over-watering. During the dark phase, small openings in the leaves (stomata) close, which markedly slows transpirational water loss. Less water lost to the surrounding atmosphere = a higher internal water pressure = a higher state of turgidity and a reduction in or absence of wilting. Your plant would function best if there was no saturated soil at the bottom of the pot and the entire soil column was damp or moist, never wet or soggy. Al...See MoreGita Kavala
