Those plants are actually quite easy to tell apart. Philodendron gloriosum has a matte finish and prominent white veining. Its on the right in the first photo. Anthurium cristallinum is glossy and has a different vein pattern, its on the left in the first photo Anthurium clavinergium is different from both, its flat with a more pronounced heart shape and completely different veining pattern, as in the 2nd photo And all are different from Anthurium regale, which is the "different" leaf on the left in this sea of Philo. gloriosum

Toni, thanks! I think it is an Anthurium. It isn't my plant, but one that I have to help someone with. I only have the same photo that you have, and not the plant in the flesh, so I really don't know how big the plant is. I put it over on the Name That Plant forum, and they thought it was Anthurium clarinervium, which is a lot like the crystallinum. She told me it has "thick spaghetti roots", so I think it may be a good size plant. Regardless, I think she needs a faster draining mix for it. When I looked it up the web site said they are epiphytes, so fast draining is what she needs.

I figured you'd get around to giving an opinion Barb, thanks for dropping in. I'm getting brown edges on the clarinervium, I repotted it into a different mix and waiting to see how that works. No way it could be from low humidity, so I'm scratching my head on this one. Deanna, I wasn't in the path of the storm, it went north but I did get 'feeder bands' with a lot of wind and rain even though it was 700 miles away the last day the bands came through. I didn't have any damage, I did hear of a homeless man living in a wooded area that was killed when a tree fell on him. Russ

could the leaves have been damaged during the move ... minor tissue injury.. can take a while before it starts to show ... could we see a pic of the whole?? since we can see circling roots.. thats arent even in the media ... come spring.. it might be a good time to repot into a slightly bigger pot ... i cant tell what kind of media you have it in.. but i bet you can do better ... think of media as a water management system .. water in the top... all excess out the bottom ... when it gets old ... then you might start having problems ... the leaf damage does not look related to your watering schedule.. since it appears so location specific.. rather than the whole leaf ... but again.. i cant see the whole plant also ... after the move.. how different was the available light? ken
