Need help with my monstera
Comments (4)Agreed, its thirsty- and yes to the "pot flush" as well- pour enough water (slowly) that about half the volume of the pot worth of water drains out the bottom- flushing the salts/waste out. Do this once a month (some do it weekly but if you're using a typical potting soil it could get too soggy doing it that often) How much light does it get? Depending on the amount of light, they can use up water kinda fast. Stick a wooden chopstick in deep (even your fingers) and see how the soil is down in there- cool and moist is nice, not soggy or powdery dry. Keep us posted how its doing, monsteras are worth it!...See MoreNeed Help With my Monstera Plant - Brown Spots & Some Yellowing Leaves
Comments (2)Yes, it has drainage holes- I left it in it's nursery pot. I put rocks/gravel at the bottom of the "decorative pot" that sits on the floor and the nursery pot sits on top of the gravel so it won't sit in water....See MoreNeed help with my Monstera Deliciosa!
Comments (4)Monsteras are semi-epiphytic in that they start off on the ground and then climb up trees. The roots run along the tree trunks exposed to a lot of air and breezes. On the ground most of the roots run through the leaf litter which is usually light and airy. Rain and air humidity is high but water run off is virtually instantaneous. You're better off using a very light epiphytic medium that drains fast and water more frequently....See MoreHelp with my monstera!!
