The leaves it does have appear to be healthy. They seem to naturally shed their lower leaves, especially when grown in lower sunlight. I've had mine growing outdoors all year long in very bright, indirect sunlight, and it still shed a couple of older leaves. But it grew several more to replace them. These "monsters" have no problem with growing roots. It looks like someone pruned away all of the aerial roots on that plant to make it appear "prettier." You can cut off the healthy tops with some of the stems and plant them. I repotted my Monstera this past spring and hacked away most of the potted roots because they were so rootbound. There was no hope of untangling them. I repotted my plant back into the same pot with fresh soil, and my monster just kept on growing as if nothing happened. Now it has sent out all new roots and filled the pot back up again, half a year later. Your plant seems fine, just a bit leggy. You shouldn't have any problems with cutting off the tops, with some of the stems, and planting them in their own pot. These plants are tough. They don't call them monsters for no reason, HaHa. :) You can probably even cut the bare, leggy stems up into smaller pieces and propagate new plants from those. Just make sure that they're oriented correctly, and not upside-down.

Hi! The current leaves will always stay as they are (they will not suddenly develop more holes). The holes in a Monstera are created with age, light, and ability to climb. The less light the plant receives the less holes it will have (that being said do not give it direct sunlight). A bright location is best for fenestrations. If given a stake to climb the leaves will both get larger and have more holes, usually this helps it to also get the second and third sets of fenestrations on a leaf. I hope this helps. What you have there is just a leaf with petiole. What you need is a section of stem which the petiole was attached to. The petiole and leaf come from a node along the main stem of the plant. That is also where roots come from. A leaf and petiole on their own will wither away.

Hi everyone! I unexpectedly came across this beauty over at Lowes. It was the last one, and also for $7 I could not pass it up. I need your input. I attached some pictures. Some of the leaves, specially 2 with the splits are in really bad shape and there are some that have some brown spots. What can I do about this? I dont want her to die nor accidentally kill her as this has been my dream houseplant, finding her has literally my dream come true lol please share all your care tips, (watering, light etc) and opinions. TIA
