36' frameless induction cooktop for flush mount
Comments (49)I am just a lay person and know nothing about this stuff other than what I had to figure out for my journey. The Miele manual says on p. 60 "Flush installation is only possible in natural-stone (granite, marble), solidwood, and tiled countertops. Certain cooktops are suitable for building into glass countertops – these are labeled accordingly. When using a countertop made from any other material, please check first with the countertop manufacturer that it is suitable for installing a flush cooktop." So you might want to call Infinity to discuss if a flush mount is possible. Your fabricator may just be wanting to be ultra cautious, so you could get some other opinions. No sure what you mean by "drop in". The manual uses 3 different terms: "flush", "framed" (p. 58), and "proud". It's very confusing. But after some research, it appears the 6365/6375 must only be installed flush (as confirmed on p. 4/8 here: http://documents.designerappliances.com/Specification-Sheet-KM6365.pdf). This makes sense, because I was trying to picture a 6365/6375 mounted as "proud" and it certainly would not look nice and definitely prone to damage. In other words, if you cannot do flush, then you must get a 6360/6370/6377 to mount either framed or proud (I suppose this just means same installation as a typical framed unit, just minus the actual frame). Hope that helps. Good luck....See MoreFeedback on Induction Cooktops w/ Knobs
Comments (36)I had the Gaggenau ci491 installed about 2 weeks ago. So far my family has no problem using it, including my 10 year-old. While some of the controls are touch related, the power setting for each hob are adjusted with the knob, & the entire cooktop can be turned off by removing the knob. It works well for us and is an improvement over the buggy touch control unit that it replaced, in my opinion. I found there was a paucity of information on this model, so to try to help others evaluate it _before_ purchasing it I posted a 12 minute instructional video on YouTube. Disclaimer: Use the video at your own risk. I am not affiliated with Gaggenau and make no binding representations related to this product. Here's the link on YouTube. http://youtu.be/0yqROURkzUM This cooktop runs a bit small. Though I got the model with the trim to try to cover up a the hole in the counter from the prior cooktop, it wasn't _quite_ big enough. Therefore, I've had to order a custom trim piece made. For those of you that need a maker the one I've ordered from is Micro-Trim, Inc. (www.microtrim.com), in California. Manufacture and shipping across country for about $180. I feel like I should've paid 1/2 that, but couldn't spend lots of time shopping around. I'll post a picture with the trim installed after it's done. The above referenced video was shot before the trim arrived. As to reliability, I won't be able to gauge that for some time. Thanks again to Moebus, GWlolo & Rentaltux for helpful comments. Comments (41)What do you people cook in your ovens? Bowling balls? Heh heh. You must be pulling out 30lb turkeys daily if the weight of your pans is that huge of a concern. I only cook turkeys once a year (for which my family thanks me) and only on the big green egg, so we decided on a range with two ovens and a warming cabinet because of the space we gained as well as the look. Our ovens have drawers below them so they aren't on the floor and when I do use them I am able to safely open and check the food without being in danger of burning my nose. We had wall ovens in the old house and hated them, as well as the gas cook top, which IMO is just a horrific waste of space. Now in our new house we have that same crappy set up and will be yanking it out as soon as possible. But we will still only cook turkeys rarely. As a pure ergonomics issue though, it is always better to lift up verses lift from chest level so for me....I just don't get why people put the stove up on the wall. Much like the drawer microwave...it just feels unsafe. And ummm they are ugly. Ok IMO but really, I hate big electronics and plastic in the middle of a wall. (I feel the same way about big screen tvs)....See MoreExperience using the new Wolf Contemporary 36" Gas Cooktop 5-burner
