Do you have any information on the color that the dining room was painted with? Internet photos are difficult to use for color matching. Can you go to a BM store and see if they can loan you a fan deck to take home so you can identify a close match the current color? Do you have an old can of the wall color in the basement?

Taupe Tone for Dining room and Shitake for Foyer…they work really beautiful together.

Thank you! I tried searching for the paint color couldn’t find it but I am going to look at these recommendations! Also went to the paint store….they aren’t very much help with colors lol

Okay, the work is going to fall on your shoulders - the clerks at the paint store are generally not color experts.

There are a lot of color experts on this site, but they can only seeing the picture you sent on whatever computer or phone display they have. I have 2 computers and a phone and if I look at your picture on any of these devices it look very different.

Each devise color corrects (including the phone that you are using to take your picture) and is set up by the manufacturer to display what they think you want to see - not necessarily what is real.

So, based on the picture that is showing on this computer that has a fairly accurate color display this is what I am seeing when comparing your picture to my database of paint colors

It looks like the color on your wall is close to Sandy Hook Gray (Renamed now to Jockey Hollow Gray). It is a fairly popular color and could be the right answer, but I can't confidently say that this is the color that is on your wall - just that it looks close the picture you uploaded.

How far off could it be? Below is a picture of my foyer layered over the paint color from my database and dollop from the BM Site of Frosted Toffee - the color I painted my foyer.

I would not have matched Frosted Toffee to the paint color in the photo.

If you want something similar to what is on your walls you need to help us figure out what is on your walls.

They do sell an relatively inexpensive ($70) device that can read the color on your wall. Some paint stores have one you can borrow.

It is not a perfect tool, but it will get you 95% to where you need to be in identifying a color.

The other option is to borrow a fan deck from the paint store and take it home and look at the colors next to your wall color till you find something similar or pick up 50 of the printed paint chips from the store and take them home and look at them next to your wall color till you find something similar.

Helps me really narrow down the color choices. I then do samples if needed. I paint samples on white paper or foam board and move them around the room and look at them at different times of the day.
