Oscar Fashions any one?
Comments (45)Did not watch the Oscars but looked through a few red carpet photo sites the morning after. While I agree there weren't any big winners this year, neither were there a lot of huge losers, either....mostly everyone looked presentable, at least. That light blue dress.....the fabric looked so cheap. I know it wasn't, of course, but it looked like fake fortuny with rhinestones. And Pink...what's up with the regulation short haircut brushed up stiff like that, or making long hair look like that? Pink, Jennifer Lawrence, several others. Kate Hudson, a roger rabbit refugee, brilliant, Annie! And finally, Pink's rendition of Over the Rainbow? I find it very sad that every singer has to sing songs with that vocal adornment technique that used to be reserved for soul music in the 70s. Now it is used to disguise or compensate for narrow vocal ranges and the fact that the voice cannot sustain long notes on an even tone. Nowadays a singer is a person who can sing enough, and has some schtick that makes him or her famous. Most of today's singers actually have terrible voices. The likes of Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter, Cass Elliott, Patsy Kline, Barbara Streisand and others with true star quality voices are mostly gone. Lea Michele is one singer who sometimes uses that type of vocalization but doesn't need it, and she would have killed that song at the Oscars....See MoreWinner Winner Chicken Dinner! Comments (13)les917, I do like the Wisteria, but I have to consider that the room is so tight that the color is magnified. Perhaps it's bouncing off the walls at each other. I mean, just look at the criminal Constellation....looks so gentle and sweet in those photos. But put it on all 4 walls and Holy Cow, that room was radiating BLUE! So, I feared what would happen with that gentle spirit known as "Wisteria". I will be saving that paint chip and might use it down the road. There is one bedroom that still needs to be painted and you just never know, this could be the winner. I must say, that I feel so happy going forward. It was killing me not knowing how to proceed. The Nimbus is calming, not crazy. Now I'm excited to go get that floor and be ready to start the install asap. Thanks everybody for all the great advice....See MoreI have two oscar winners on my new book!

Comments (31)Thank you @maddielee, @morz8 - Washington Coast, @Feathers11, and @Annie Deighnaugh for your condolences. It means so much to have a kind virtual group of friends to help me at this time. The last two dresses fit really well, better than the first I think. The middle dress is a bit more formal and the latter is a little more casual. I'm leaning towards wearing the last dress since it is a little more casual and as recommended, works a little better with the booties It's a Norma Kamali dress. I may end up keeping the middle dress too since it fits really well and seems like a good staple since I'm clearly lacking non-sleeveless dresses. The first and middle are both Calvin Klein. Thank you everyone for your help in this time. I think I need to build out my closet with a few more staples so that in the future I won't feel so panicked trying to find something appropriate to wear. My professional life has become so casual (first working for a very casual company and now working from home for that company) that my closet has really fallen into very casual territory. Combine that with weight changes and maturing in age and I think I need to do a little investment in my closet again....See More- 3 years agolast modified: 3 years ago
