Design Dilemma Home Decorating

what do I do with this corner in my hallway

last year

I’m the third photo where the two photos are it feels very empty but I have clue what to put in that corner does anyone have any ideas

Other two photos are there so you can see the rest of the space

You could do a standing lamp where the plant is and move the plant to that space. would also move the plant on the console over to the right. maybe a roman shade or sheers on the windows to frame and soften them? nice space. the other thing you could do is swap the mirror and the two pics.

Is this an entryway? What is the use of the entire space. Not every space needs to be filled. If you want to make an entryway inviting, an inexpensive Japanese paper floor lamp adds a cozy feeling to an entry.

I would consider taking down the walls to the closet and make a mud room type storage with benches and storage. Do you have pets? You could make it a pet area (bench for dog/cat to sit in window). Or put shelves along the closet side wall with various plants? Might make a neat spot for an herb garden!

I would put a full-length mirror on the angled wall, but this might be bad feng shui. However, according to feng shui, a mirror should never reflect another mirror, and I used to have this in my bedroom, so that I could see myself from the back, and so I'm not sure how to take some of those rules. I would avoid putting anything that might appear like clutter in that corner. I might just put a coat hook there.

How do I install french doors in my hallway?

Bi-fold doors are sized to it a finished opened. So for example, a 36x80" bi-fold door is actually a little smaller than 36x80" to give it room to move in the opening. Conventional doors require a rough opening about 2" bigger than the dimensions of the door to accommodate the jamb. At 40 1/2" wide, you're going to have a difficult time finding a bi-fold because most manufacturers limit their panel width to about 18". Going with 4 doors would also be an issue because they would be about 10" wide. A double door is also going to be a little tricky because you'd be talking about two 18" doors (36") plus a couple of inches = 38". It's also not a good idea to install a door over drywall, so if you removed a 1/2" on each side, you'd a have rough of about 41 1/2". That would work with 20" doors cut down by about 1/4". You're also going to do something about the height. I'd probably just block down to be able to use a standard 80" door. You're also probably need louvered doors (or add a vent) for combustion air for the furnace. In addition you need to consider any set-backs required by the appliance manufacturers.

Do you have any pain points? Not enough storage? No place to build a puzzle or do sewing projects? Space for a dog kennel? Reading room? Study for your kids to do homework? Upstairs laundry? Without knowing your needs it is hard to anticipate the best use for this space.

Artwork with a bit of color is needed on that wall.

The room is very black and white. Try adding a piece that brings cheer to the room . if you need seating, a statement chair, else a lamp.

can also put a table with an art piece on it.

Not every space in a home needs to be filled , less is more is avery good idea to live by .

Totally agree with above. The space is nice as is. If anything, try your plant there (it feels squeezed in anyway).

You might look at adding the plant to the other side, some artwork, and a standing lamp.

I agree with comments that it’s a very nice space. Well put together. I also agree with comment that floor plant looks a little squished. The only thing I’d do is move it to the other side of window settee & leave the smaller corner by the mirror open.
