Happy Birthday Lars!
Comments (50)Thanks for the late wishes too! And I especially want to thank Annie for making the effort to greet me from Texas - that is very special to me. I took off from work today because I was really tired, and I don't have anything really pressing to do there. I will need to get back tomorrow, however. For some reason, I woke up at 2:00 a.m. today and couldn't get back to sleep, and so when it was time to get ready for work, I was extremely tired. This let me celebrate Mardi Gras, I guess. Comments (30)Thanks for all the wonderful birthday greetings! It seems like no one sends cards any more - I got one from my boss and one from a co-worker, but nothing in the mail and nothing from my family in the way of a card. I did get a lot of messages on Facebook, but I rarely go there, and so I'll have to take another look. Two co-workers took me to lunch at a nearby Greek restaurant (that I love), and I had Mousaka, but I really love their Lahanodolmades. Anyway, we had a good time, and Carlos told me that he had been craving Greek food ever since he left Montreal. I am planning a relaxed week-end and hope to get my taxes done so that I can budget money for my dental work. I have another dentist appointment on March 2, and we'll discuss the best plan for the tooth at that time. I'm really hoping for a root canal and crown rather than extraction and implant, but I have a feeling that I will end up with the implant. I don't want to get another crown just to lose it. I'm making stuffed portobello mushrooms for dinner tonight - that should be easy enough to eat! Katie - why wouldn't you have kept the Pogo book?!? They are very funny! Thanks again for all your thoughts!! Lars...See MoreHappy Birthday Lars (publickman)!!!!!
Comments (54)I'm definitely still celebrating, so no problem with being late to the party - it's still going on today!! The stove is scheduled to arrive today between 2:45 and 4:45 PM Pacific Time, and so it's not due for another hour and a half at the very earliest. I cleared a path, and now all I have to do is finish cleaning the rest of the kitchen, which is not essential, but will be nice. We got most of the path cleared yesterday, but there really wasn't a whole lot we had to do. Everything I moved today is easily portable - a couple of things are on casters, and so they roll in and out of place. It might be too dark by the stove is in place to take pictures today, but I can always use a flash. I think winter is over, however, as it is supposed to be 75° by tomorrow, but it will still be cool enough here for me to do some serious baking! Actually, it's usually not hot in the summer either - and anyway I have A/C. I'm still excited about the stove! Lars...See MoreHappy Birthday Lars
Comments (26)Thanks for the belated wishes as well - I guess I got my last birthday present today, which was a new crown for one of my teeth! Sol, my family was good to me this year - Kevin got me a book that I like very much, and my sister sent me a package that arrived yesterday, thus prolonging my BD a bit. KD, was your son's birthday the same day as mine? I know that Sooz was celebrating someone's birthday last week-end also, but she did not say whose. I have had a lot of friends with birthdays right around mine, and Kevin's is exactly three weeks after mine (except on leap years), and we are planning to go to Palm Springs for that. Colleen, "Russian Salad" was more like a Salad Niçoise, in that it had potatoes, green beans, tuna, HB egg, etc. but it had a different dressing on it. All in all, I did have a very happy birthday. Last year my birthday was the first one I had had after my parents passed away. My birthday was also their anniversary, and so it was rather sad - so we went to Death Valley. Here's a picture of me on my previous birthday in an abandoned building in Leadville (ghost town) DV. Lars...See MoreLars
