Farm chic, I like the overall shape of that table, but white would not work in this room. There is literally nothing white in this room, not even the ceiling! Kkay, you know, I saw a trunk/chest in a store last weekend and I was really drawn to it but it was just a little too small. If I could find the one I saw in a bigger size, I think it might be a candidate. Funky -- I think you and I could be friends for life. I have looked (online) at that RH table a few times!! It is so cool looking. I wondered how the metal would hold up, ie would it scratch easily. I should go look at it in the store. We had a round table in this room way back when... That's still a possibility although right now I'm thinking a long table so everyone can put their feet up, and probably putting the round red ottoman elsewhere. I'm not sure about the aesthetics of a round table, plus a round ottoman, plus the square ottoman that goes with the leather chair... Finally, abundant blessings, I knew someone would mention the position of that chair. I know it's not great, but the reality of this room is that we sit on that chair and that end of the sofa to watch TV. Also, if I pull the chair out and angle it more, it gets too tight with the end table and that end of the sofa (I've done it) and ends up looking more awkward. Eventually I'm going to slide the sofa down the wall a few inches in the other direction, but that entails moving the artwork, etc...so I've been procrastinating. That might help but probably not that much. Same problem with the red ottoman -- that's for the feet of whoever is sitting at that end of the sofa (don't get me started -- DH and DS seem physically unable to sit there without putting their feet up on something). But if I had a longer table, the ottoman would go elsewhere.

Yes I think that is our plan is to use it for addtl beverages as we got a cabinet depth fridge. we are used to a full size + a garage fridge in our primary home, so we thought an extra little fridge would be handy with all the cold drinks that we will need for the beach,etc.. And then we could put coffee creamer in it and put the coffee pot on the counter and fill it at the prep sink. But just one more thing to figure out last minute... figure if we have to purchase either a hutch or 2 cabinets (ikea).. it wouldn't cost much more to have part of the kitchen there if it made sense. Thx!

Well, I did not keep it. It just didn't feel right in the room to me. I think one of the problems was the height of the table. At 20", I think it was just too tall. When I measure to the very top of the sofa cushion, I get almost 19.5". BUT, the height where the welting is along the edge of the cushion measures at only 18". The sofa, altho it's been reupholstered, is at least 25 years old, so I guess it's a little shorter than a newer sofa. I know there have to be coffee tables that are shorter than 20" out there somewhere. I have been looking on CL, but many times there I come up with coffee table that are much shorter than 20". Many are only 16" tall. The original table is also 20" tall and I've always felt I made a mistake on the height of that table. I'm now searching the internet again for a different style table. Perhaps a wood table, but with no lower shelf to hide the rug. There's a table I've always liked and so far, I've been unsuccessful in finding anything like it in my on line search. It's black, oval with some gold accent painting on it. The top has a raised edge and kind of looks like a tray, but this table is all one piece. The legs look a little like bamboo and there's an x-shaped stretcher bar across the bottom between the 4 legs. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I know it's a table that's been around for awhile and we actually had one not too long ago in the consignment shop where I volunteer, but I wasn't looking for a table then. Darn! Back to searching.
