I need help with my kitchen wall color and my cabinet color!
Comments (4)IMO- While I agree with 82mainstreet about painting cabinets white and not expresso, I also believe you won't be happy unless the color combo pleases you. - First, what do you want to accomplish? Are you intending to live in the home for a long time? Or are you painting for resale? - If you are painting for resale, then classic white for your cabinets is your best choice. It has wider appeal. A future owner will find it easier to change the wall color than the cabinets. - If you are planning to stay in the house, you can be more personal in your color choices. - But be wary of fads, especially when painting cabinets. It is much easier to paint walls. From your photo, it looks like your cabinets are nicely finished wood. Personally, I wouldn't change that unless they are damaged. I would just update the wall color, but that is just my opinion. If you do paint the cabinets, don't be swayed by fad colors. I would still recommend white or maybe a pale cream. That way, if you get tired of your color combo in the future, you only have to change the walls to update the room. - Unless you are changing your appliances and flooring, very dark cabinets will probably make your kitchen feel overwhelmingly dark and warm. - Consider your lighting and how you want your kitchen to feel. Does your kitchen feel too warm or too cool when your work in it? - White will give your room a light and airy feel especially if paired with cool blues and greens. If that seems to make the room feel too cold, white or cream can be warmed up with a bright wall color like apricot, lime green or turquoise. Try looking through magazines for color combos you like...or look inside your own closet for colors that make you feel good....See MoreNeed help picking a color for the exterior stucco. (Long)
Comments (57)Love your house! I second to not remove the shutters as they balance out the narrowness of the windows. You have a big, solid looking house and without them the proportions of the windows seem to be a bit off. They also give a visual break to the expanse of walls unless you could add some wide trim around the windows. Your house has a commanding presence and I think it would look stunning in a darker color which would also stand out from all the other houses in your neighborhood. I also would take a sample of your flagstone and get it color matched when it is wet. Below is just an example. Wonder if someone could photoshop a dark color with white shutters just to give you a comparison to the light colors above and see if you would like it....See MoreHelp!! Comments (7)Your house has a wonderful lodge feel to it. Is it in a forested or lake area? If so, this is a look: If you're in more of a suburban neighborhood, then Judy G's suggestion for trim paint is good. No need to paint the entire house. If you have the budget, great landscaping would really enhance your house, something like the photo above or here below: Something to think about is changing out the white window shades for light bamboo to add to the rustic feeling....See MoreNeed help with Stucco color, anyone use La Habra Agate stucco?
Comments (3)Contact the place where they sell the stucco and ask or go to see bigger samples. When I was choosing the color of stucco (different brand), my contractor sent me to the store where he purchases his supplies and they had 2 walls of displays of stucco brands by color including la Habra. I was able to take a few samples home to look at them at different time of the day/light. When I finally narrowed to 2 options my contractor made 2 big samples which we placed against the walls on construction site and finally made a decision. With stucco colors it is really tricky. It changes color depending on the time of the day and light. In certain lights you can notice hues which you cannot see other times. Above is the picture of the stucco sample made by my contractor....See MorePaul F.
